About this role

Job Title: Accessioner IJob DescriptionThe Accessioner I is responsible for accurately processing laboratory samples and supporting diagnostic testing by cataloging and managing patient specimens. This role focuses primarily on blood specimens, while also handling other sample types such as urine and tissue, ensuring that laboratory professionals receive complete and accurate information to carry out diagnosis and treatment. Responsibilities • Receive and triage all specimens for clinical testing in a timely and accurate manner. • Verify specimen information and ensure proper labeling and documentation for each sample. • Manage clinical information within the LCLS database, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records. • Perform specimen tracking activities, ensuring that all samples are accounted for throughout the testing process. • Prepare, pack, and ship specimens according to established protocols and regulatory requirements. • Collaborate with various laboratory departments to support testing accuracy and workflow efficiency. • Handle primarily blood specimens, with additional responsibility for urine, tissue, and other sample types as needed. • Follow laboratory procedures and quality standards to support reliable diagnostic results. • Work both independently and as part of a team to meet processing deadlines and daily workload demands. • Maintain a high level of attention to detail to minimize errors in specimen handling and data entry. Essential Skills • 0–2 years of work experience in a laboratory, data entry, or similar high-paced environment. • Experience in a high-paced data entry and multitasking environment. • Proven attention to accuracy and strict adherence to deadlines. • Ability to work well independently and collaboratively within a team setting. • Basic understanding of laboratory processes and specimen handling. • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple specimens and tasks simultaneously. • Proficiency in data entry with a focus on speed and accuracy. • Comfort working primarily with blood specimens and other clinical samples. Additional Skills & Qualifications • AS or BS degree in biological sciences or a related discipline preferred. • Familiarity with laboratory information systems or databases, such as LCLS, is an advantage. • Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with different laboratory departments. • Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced clinical environment. • Commitment to quality, compliance, and adherence to laboratory protocols. Work EnvironmentThis position operates in a clinical laboratory environment with a focus on specimen processing and data management. The role primarily involves working with blood and other patient specimens, using laboratory databases and standard equipment to support testing activities. The schedule is Monday through Friday from 3:30 p.m. to midnight, requiring comfort with evening hours and consistent workflow throughout the shift. The environment is fast-paced and detail-oriented, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, collaboration, and meeting turnaround times. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Earth City, MO. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
