About this role
Job Title: Systems EngineerJob DescriptionThis Systems Engineer role focuses on generating clear, comprehensive process documentation across the core systems engineering lifecycle, including requirements, analysis, architecture, and verification and validation (V&V) and test. You will help define and document how complex aerospace systems are conceived, developed, integrated, and verified, ensuring that systems engineering principles and practices are captured in a structured, repeatable way.Responsibilities
• Generate detailed process documentation covering the four key systems engineering areas: requirements, analysis, architecture, and verification and validation (V&V) and test. • Create structured process documentation drafts that clearly describe how systems engineering activities are performed and coordinated. • Perform verification and validation activities and accurately document the associated processes and outcomes. • Support requirements management by documenting how requirements are captured, analyzed, traced, and maintained throughout the project lifecycle. • Develop and maintain documentation related to concepts of operations (CONOPS), ensuring system behavior and operational scenarios are clearly defined. • Document interface control processes and create or update interface control documents (ICDs) that describe system and subsystem interactions. • Capture and formalize systems engineering principles and practices, including SEMP, V&V test processes, requirements management, TPM, ICD development, architecture definition, MBSE practices, trace studies, and CONOPS. • Analyze how work is performed from a systems perspective within the aerospace environment and translate that understanding into clear, usable process documents. • Collaborate with engineering teams to understand existing workflows, tools, and methodologies and reflect them accurately in process documentation. • Use tools such as DOORS and Jama to support requirements and systems documentation activities. Essential Skills
• Strong experience with requirements engineering, including requirements definition, analysis, and management. • Hands-on experience with verification and validation (V&V) processes and test documentation in a systems engineering context. • Proven ability to create comprehensive, clear, and structured process documentation for complex technical systems. • Experience in aerospace systems engineering, with familiarity with industry practices and standards. • Solid understanding of systems engineering principles, including Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP), V&V test processes, requirements management, Technical Performance Measures (TPM), interface control documents (ICD), architecture definition, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), trace studies, and concepts of operations (CONOPS). • Ability to document systems engineering processes in a way that is accessible and usable for engineering teams and stakeholders. • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline. • Experience using requirements management tools such as DOORS and Jama. Additional Skills & Qualifications
• Experience working on aerospace or complex systems programs, with an understanding of how systems engineering is applied in practice. • Familiarity with developing and maintaining CONOPS documentation for complex systems. • Experience creating and managing interface control documents (ICDs) that define system and subsystem interfaces. • Knowledge of Technical Performance Measures (TPM) and how they are used to monitor and control system performance. • Exposure to MBSE approaches and tools, and the ability to reflect MBSE workflows in process documentation. • Ability to perform trace studies and document traceability across requirements, design, implementation, and test. • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts and workflows into clear, concise documentation. • Collaborative mindset and ability to work closely with multiple engineering disciplines to gather information and validate documented processes.
