Job Title: Phlebotomist IIJob DescriptionThe primary role of the Phlebotomist II is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshoot issues, provide training, and recommend workflow improvements. This role involves performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontaminating, and updating patient information. Responsibilities • Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately. • Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data. • Decontaminate equipment and update patient information as needed. • Collect and store specimens following established procedures. • Explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods clearly and courteously to patients. • Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles. • Understand and follow all physicians' orders. • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes accurately. • Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders. • Ensure test requisitions or computer labels are 100% correct. • Package specimens correctly for transport. • Store specimen samples at the required temperature and place samples in appropriate containers. • Accurately label and follow procedures to maintain specimen integrity during transport. • Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. • Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results when necessary. Essential Skills • Proficiency in phlebotomy and blood draw techniques. • Experience in specimen collection and processing. • Excellent customer service skills. • Phlebotomy certification in the applicable state. • Proficiency with laboratory procedures and equipment. • Ability to accurately handle patient information. • Competency with Microsoft Office Suite. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment. • Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. • High School Diploma or GED. • 2-4 years of relevant experience. Work EnvironmentThe work environment is a fast-paced laboratory or hospital setting. This role requires adherence to safety regulations and protocols to maintain the integrity of specimens. The position involves interaction with patients and healthcare professionals, necessitating excellent communication skills and a professional demeanor. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Doylestown, PA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
