Field Operations & Maintenance Supervisor
Job Description: Supervisory position for the pump station operations program, which includes coordination, implementation, tracking and communication of comprehensive program and project objectives, milestones and schedules. Assists with managing the physical, fiscal, and human resources at a field station location. Implements and follows emergency management and safety policies, procedures, and standards for staff, work processes and work location/ site. Provides direct input to the emergency management operations procedures used by all field stations. Works with both the superintendent and assistant superintendent to ensure staff’s readiness to respond and support the field station's emergency management operations. This includes addressing all regional issues/concerns specific to a field station location.
Provides technical and programmatic coordination and interaction with other District bureaus/sections and offices, government agencies, and the public. Interacts with management, contractors, and other agencies, in a manner that exhibits a knowledgeable and resourceful demeanor that evokes trust and confidence relative to project participation.
Manages budget by establishing realistic annual work plans for area of responsibility that is aligned with the District’s strategic priorities. Select, scope and budget projects so they are completed within allotted timeframe.
Analyzes real time data reports to improve utilization and effectiveness of available resources and management of annual work plans and field station daily operations. Implements process improvements to reduce project costs, work time, or required resources.
Manages contracts provided by external vendors ensuring compliance with District Procurement rules and regulations. Measures/ validates services provided versus service costs. Implements action steps to correct under-performing situations/ arrangements.
Participates as a facilitator or team member on standardization (STAN) teams to develop and update Suggested Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Load Indicators, to forecast the replacement of critical facilities and equipment, and to develop a budget for the life-cycle costs of the District’s assets.
Demonstrates strong communication, time management, planning and problem solving skills.
Displays leadership effectiveness through strong knowledge of Human Resource policies and practices. Addresses all human resource and performance issues on a timely basis. Is fully aware of the resources and processes available to resolve issues in the most favorable manner for the District.
Develops annual performance plans for direct reports that include clear and measurable key results and objectives (KRO’s) that are aligned to support the team’s work plan. Leads and motivates work team maintaining consistency, open communication with all staff members, and a positive work environment to achieve the program’s goals. Attracts, hires, retains, motivates, and rewards staff. Guides the development of staff skills and aligns staff’s expertise and credentials to achieve the unit’s work products in the most effective and efficient manner. Ensures staff meets all licensure and professional certification requirements for their job.
Demonstrates software proficiency in office automation software applications (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Systems, Applications, and Products (SAP) data processing).
All other duties as assigned.
Reporting location is the Clewiston Field Station
Work hours are 4 ten hour days: Monday - Thursday from 6:30 am - 5:00 pm.
Employment Guidelines Typically has Associate's Degree in related discipline field and 6+ years' experience in the operation and maintenance of diesel engines, including servicing ancillary mechanical equipment, which also includes 2+ years supervisory experience. Working knowledge of software applications including spreadsheets and word processing (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint). The hiring range for this position is $76,190.40 to $110,947.20 (based on education and years of relevant work experience). Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Licenses Valid State of Florida Driver's License.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment Due to the District's response role and in the total scope of emergency management, this position may at times, be required to provide support before, during and after major storm events and emergency situations, such as hurricanes or other declared emergencies, depending on assigned emergency response role.
Composition of office and field work with regular exposure to a hot and humid environment in remote and heavy vegetative areas.
