Job Description: The Maintenance Intern supports the maintenance team in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of equipment used in steel manufacturing processes. This role provides hands-on exposure to preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, equipment inspections, and reliability improvement initiatives. The intern will work closely with maintenance technicians, electricians, and engineers to learn best practices in industrial maintenance while contributing to operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities: • Assist maintenance personnel in the inspection, repair, and maintenance of steel production equipment, including conveyors, motors, pumps, hydraulic systems, and overhead cranes • Support preventive and predictive maintenance activities by performing routine inspections and documenting findings • Help maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and equipment histories in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) • Participate in equipment troubleshooting and root cause analysis under supervision • Assist with lubrication programs and housekeeping activities in maintenance areas • Observe and support mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repair activities • Conduct safety inspections and help ensure compliance with company safety standards and procedures • Support continuous improvement and reliability initiatives aimed at reducing equipment downtime • Assist in inventory management of maintenance parts, tools, and supplies • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned Requirements: • Candidates must be a full-time student pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering • Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.) • Candidates must be a current student and have completed their sophomore year by June 2026 and be in good academic standing • Be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship Preferred Skills: We are looking for motivated self-starters that can work in a fast paced, data-driven environment. The successful undergraduate will be an analytical problem solver, strong communicator, have an extremely high level of customer focus and a passion for process improvement. In addition, a successful intern will have: • Demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and an aptitude for your area of study • A strong record of team, project and/or people leadership in a work setting and/or extracurricular activities • A willingness to take initiative to understand the business • An aptitude for problem solving; strong writing and verbal communication skills • A strong commitment to excellence and to personal and professional growth • Must be resourceful, responsible, tenacious, curious, independent, confident and high energy • The ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks • Leadership and strong decision-making skills • Ability to think and act both strategically and tactically
