Job Description: CMS Process Specialist - Decatur, IL This is a full-time Non-Exempt position
General The CMS Process Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of grain and freight settlement reconciliations across multiple locations. This role requires advanced problem solving skills, strong analytical capabilities, and a deep understanding of settlement systems and processes. The Process Specialist will identify and clear reconciling items, resolve discrepancies, and ensure all transactions are properly recorded in alignment with company policies, internal controls, and audit requirements. This position partners closely with the Direct Manager/Supervisor, Accounting teams, and cross functional partners to maintain clean, up to date reconciliations and support month end closing activities.
Experience • Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred • Settlement, accounting, or reconciliation experience strongly preferred • Advanced working knowledge of Agris, JDE, MDM, and Excel required • Prior experience with audits or internal controls preferred Job Requirements • Strong analytical and reconciliation skills with a high attention to detail • Ability to troubleshoot complex discrepancies and document root cause analysis • Proven ability to work independently while supporting team objectives • Comfort working with multiple system interfaces • Strong communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain findings to both technical and non‑technical partners • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, especially during month end close cycles • Familiarity with NGFA Trade Rules preferred Responsibilities • Perform accurate and timely reconciliations for grain and freight settlement activity • Provide excellent customer service by responding to emails and manager inquiries promptly and professionally. • Identify, research, and clear reconciling items to ensure alignment with financial records • Maintain compliance with company policies, internal controls, and audit standards • Collaborate with Accounting, AP, Commercial, and CMS team members to resolve discrepancies • Monitor system interfaces and troubleshoot settlement variances • Recommend process improvements and support implementation of best practices • Provide training and guidance to settlement team members as needed • Actively participate in projects, contributing expertise to help define, develop, and implement best practices and process improvements. • Help identify gaps, recommend solutions, and support project teams in driving consistent, scalable, and sustainable outcomes. : Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.
