BAE Systems is hiring a Director II - Programs, who will directly support the Vice President of Combat Vehicles, consisting of the ACV, AMPV, and Bradley programs. In this role as a Director II - Programs, you will work with Program Directors and Functional Leads across the three programs to eliminate barriers and ensure teams have the support to meet customer delivery schedules within budget and in accordance with contract terms and conditions. You'll be charged to provide organizational team alignment and leadership in the attainment of identified team performance goals. You will serve as the appointed Program Management point of contact to allow the Vice President to lead and direct the team at the appropriate senior leadership level. • This position will ideally be based in York, Pennsylvania or Sterling Heights, Michigan or San Jose, California or Falls Church, Virginia. However, consideration will be made to support from other CMS sites. • This is a Hybrid Onsite/Remote role where you will work onsite on average 3 days a week and remote 2 days a week, based on business needs. • This position will involve 25% of travel, on average one week each month, based on business needs. Responsibilities • Align new organization to enable efficient execution and consistent standards across the portfolio. • Establish operating construct and battle rhythm, including a portfolio dashboard to harmonize reporting metrics and identify opportunities for alignment and improvement. • Lead or support critical technical RCCA activities from a PM perspective to ensure coordination across all functions to minimize blockers to delivery. • Identify and execute portfolio-wide continuous improvement initiatives requiring cross-functional support and integration (e.g. proposal management, supplier quality, safety, etc.). • Responsible for the planning and coordination of Quarterly Business Reviews (QBR) and Integrated Business Planning (IBP); including heavy coordination with Program Directors, Finance, and Business Development. • Coordinate with Functional Leadership to manage strategic initiatives across the Senior Leadership Team. • Drive internal process and team preparation for monthly reviews such as PMR, CSR, Red/Yellow reviews, etc. • Review organizational alignment to ensure we have streamlined, efficient, and balanced teams across the portfolios. • Drive consistency for performance of Program Management and Controls (PM&C) through CAM and WPM organizational alignment across the portfolios. • Review all internal BAE Systems processes and schedules to allow the Vice President to be more customer focused and influential at the Sr. U.S. and International Government / Military levels. • Serve as a point of contact with targeted customers on schedule, production status, and other programmatic issues. • Ensure targeted Operational Excellence obligations, such as Plan it Right, Build it Right, PMO alignment, etc. objectives are met. • Provide leadership and anticipate and resolve issues and inter-group conflict. • Build presentations and interface with senior management, corporate-level managers, and high-ranking customers on all matters affecting the status of programs. • Work with Business Development and Strategy in analyzing broad market trends across the portfolios. • Plan and lead various strategic improvement initiatives across the business. • Utilize experience in partnering with Government Relations to affect or influence a potential outcome that benefits the business portfolio. • Keep Site Managers, Program Directors, and Functional Managers apprised of the critical business issues and status for all program areas. • Lead development of business cases for strategic investments e.g., identifying need and specificity of strategic funding. • Advise VP on forecasting future business needs (e.g., people, process, tools) or market trends. • Manage mutually beneficial partnering relationships across the portfolio.
Required Skills and Education: • Requires a Bachelor's Degree and twelve (12) years of related work experience, or the overall equivalent. • Proven track record in program management. • Demonstrated success in site or business leadership. • Expertise in strategic planning and execution. • Strong background in customer engagement and relationship management. • Proven ability to influence and collaborate effectively with large cross-functional and cross-program teams. • Skilled in articulating complex issues, risks, and mitigation strategies to senior management. • Adept at analyzing critical problems, developing actionable courses of action, and providing decisive recommendations. • Deeply experienced in navigating dynamic and expansive portfolios with a broad and diverse customer base. • Experienced in managing issues, briefings, and strategic recommendations for Sector senior leadership.

Preferred Skills and Education: • Certified Management Professional (PMP). • Knowledge and prior experience in planning, scheduling, and management of programs. • Experience in business case development, analysis, and presentation. • Experience establishing and leading Integrated Product Teams (IPT). • Very strong presentation and organizational skills. • Highly adaptable with a high degree of initiative.
