About this role
Salary: £60,000 - 150,000 per year
Requirements: We require 2+ years shipping production code to real users; strong open source work also counts, and exceptional early-career engineers are welcome. We require demonstrable custom agentic workflows as evidence of AI leverage, including systems you have built and how they multiplied your output. We value experience with APIs, SDKs, and integration work where many suppliers are made to behave as one.We value a strong systems background, including distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and performance. We value experience in GPU, HPC, or research computing. We value a PhD or research background in a computational field with substantial software work.We hire hard-working, intelligent people, and exceptional performance in an adjacent field can outweigh directly related experience. Responsibilities: We will have you help shape our engineering, product, and company culture from the beginning as one of our earliest hires. We will have you expand our supplier network by building a repeatable integration framework and plugins that connect each GPU cloud to C3.We will have you own reliable execution by improving the Go agent on each machine, including job lifecycle, streamed logs, mounts, failure recovery, and metered billing. We will have you build intelligent routing to decide where each workload runs based on GPU type, capacity, price, performance, and reliability. We will have you bring research into production by turning our demand-forecasting models into systems that prepare environments and data before jobs arrive. We will have you work on a Go CLI, on-machine agents, and a TypeScript control plane on Cloudflare Workers. We will have you contribute to novel scientific research and publications if you are excited by that work, although it is not required. We are C3, also known as Cambridge Compute Co, and we are building one global compute network for GPU workloads so researchers and automated agents can access frontier compute more easily. Our system turns fragmented GPU capacity across many suppliers into one programmable platform that finds suitable GPUs, reproduces environments, positions data, routes work by availability, price, and performance, and meters only the time jobs are running. We are a Cambridge-based, early-stage company with a live product, first users, and a $5M pre-seed raise. We offer a full-time, permanent role with founding equity, a salary of £60,000 to £150,000 depending on experience, and a hybrid setup with at least three days a week in person in Cambridge. You will join a small founding engineering team, report to the founder, and work closely with the founder and our first engineer. We review applications on a rolling basis, move quickly, and are keen for the right person to start as soon as possible.
