Salary: £59,000 - 99,000 per year
Requirements: A proven track record of designing and delivering scalable, reliable cloud-based infrastructure and platform servicesExtensive experience running and supporting services in production environments, including on-call leadership and incident command at scalePrevious experience as an individual contributor in an engineering leadership position such as Staff+, Principal or ArchitectDeep expertise managing Kubernetes production clusters at scale, including cluster lifecycle and upgrades, resource optimization, security, high availability, and troubleshooting complex networking or scheduling issuesExpertise with Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform, and modern GitOps practicesStrong software engineering foundations with the ability to build and maintain production-grade tooling; experience with Go is preferable and NodeJS is a plusStrong understanding of observability, SLOs, alerting and cost management for large-scale systemsOperational experience with Kafka, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch and IstioFamiliarity with LLMOps is a plus, including model gateways and routing with LiteLLM, and experiment and model tracking with MLflowA FinOps mindset with the ability to drive cost-awareness across teams and balance spend against reliability and performancePeople leadership experience in the form of mentorship and coachingAbility to collaborate with non-technical colleagues to turn ambiguously defined problems into clear requirements and pragmatic solutions Responsibilities: Design solutions, produce architectures and write RFCs for platform, reliability and infrastructure initiatives with impact across Engineering and beyondHelp teams ship scalable, reliable and cost-effective services while maintaining hands-on credibilityPartner with Product and Engineering Directors on planning by scoping and sizing large platform initiatives that span multiple teamsWork with other Principal Engineers to create and update the architectural vision that supports our strategyEngage with other Principal Engineers to set and advocate company-wide standards for operational excellence, observability, reliability and incident responseTake a whole-company view of major incidents, identify recurring themes and turn them into company-level investmentsOwn and evolve the platform and infrastructure tech radar, making data-backed cases for adoption and deprecation of technologies and servicesSet the standard for operational ownership and support teams in owning their services end-to-endCoach and mentor Engineers up to Staff level across the organisationCollaborate on customer solutions with non-technical stakeholders including Sales, Customer Success and our Fortune 500 customersStay connected to production through on-call and use that perspective to raise the bar for incident response, observability and reliability across Engineering Technologies: Agentic AIAIArchitectCloudElasticSearchGitOpsIstioSupportKafkaKubernetesLLMMLflowMongoDBNodeJSPostgreSQLSAPSecurityTerraformDevOpsIncident ManagementNetworkRBAC More:
