Requirements: Previous experience within an MSP environment.Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, Entra ID / Azure, Intune & SharePoint, Windows Server, Windows 10/11, networking fundamentals, DNS and domain management, Microsoft Defender, and backup technologies.Experience with RMM and PSA platforms.Experience conducting technical audits and discovery exercises.Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.Microsoft certifications are desirable.Experience with VMware / Hyper-V is desirable.Knowledge of cyber security frameworks is desirable.Cloud migration experience is desirable.Excellent customer service skills.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Highly organised and detail-oriented.Ability to manage multiple onboarding projects simultaneously.Proactive and self-motivated.Professional and customer-focused approach.Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Responsibilities: We lead technical onboarding activities for new MSP customers.We coordinate the transition of IT services from incumbent providers.We gather technical information, credentials, licences, and infrastructure details.We conduct onboarding meetings with customers and stakeholders.We create and manage onboarding plans and project timelines.We ensure all onboarding activities are completed within agreed timescales.We audit customer IT environments including Microsoft 365, Azure / Entra ID, servers, networking, end-user devices, security solutions, and backup systems.We produce accurate technical documentation and network diagrams.We identify risks, unsupported systems, and technical debt.We maintain customer records within documentation platforms.We deploy and configure MSP management tools.We implement monitoring and alerting solutions.We configure endpoint management and security platforms.We install remote management and support software.We configure backups and business continuity solutions.We onboard Microsoft 365 tenants and associated services.We conduct security assessments during onboarding.We verify MFA, conditional access, backup, and security controls.We ensure customer environments meet our standards.We escalate security concerns and remediation recommendations.We support compliance and audit requirements.We deliver onboarding-related technical projects.We assist with Microsoft 365 migrations, SharePoint migrations, endpoint deployments, network improvements, and telephony onboarding.We coordinate with Projects and Service Desk teams.We act as a trusted technical advisor during the onboarding process.We provide regular progress updates to customers.We manage customer expectations and communicate risks effectively.We ensure a positive onboarding experience that promotes long-term customer relationships.We complete onboarding checklists and quality assurance reviews.We deliver internal handover meetings.We ensure documentation is complete and accurate.We transfer ownership to Service Desk teams with minimal disruption. We are hiring an IT Onboarding Engineer to manage and deliver the technical onboarding of new Managed Service Provider (MSP) clients. This role focuses on ensuring a smooth transition from incumbent providers, accurate documentation of customer environments, deployment of MSP tools and security solutions, and a successful handover into ongoing support. The successful candidate will act as a key point of contact throughout the onboarding process, combining strong technical skills with excellent communication and project coordination abilities. This is a modern MSP role where onboarding is treated as a project function rather than a Service Desk responsibility.
