About this role

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Director of Operational Performance to join the operational leadership team.

This is a unique opportunity to lead the delivery of operational performance and improvement across the organisation with alignment to the Trusts annual plan, national standards and long-term strategy with links to the Clinical Divisions, Systems and partners.

The post holder will provide leadership to Assistant Directors and manage the improvement portfolios within Corporate Operations to support benefits realisation at a group level with Dudley Group of Hospitals Foundation Trust. You will also be key in the oversight and delivery of our productivity and performance objectives to meet and exceed national standards.

The role will require strong analytical and change realisation skills and capabilities. Candidates will require proven experience of defining highly complex challenges, strategising their solutions, and building the conditions and plans for their resolution.

We are seeking an exceptional candidate who can manage and navigate complex agendas. You will be able to think strategically, with significant experience of working at a senior level and of overseeing substantial service development.

Main duties of the job

To lead on the delivery of operational performance and improvement with alignment to the Trusts annual plan, national standards and long-term strategy with links to the Committees, Clinical Divisions, and Systems.

The role will require specialist skills and capabilities throughout the improvement process, from defining highly complex and sensitive situations, to designing strategies and delivering interventions. Skills required include:

Strong analytical and change realisation skills and capabilities

Proven experience of defining highly complex challenges, strategising solutions, and building the infrastructure for resolution

Influencing Boards, Executives and Clinicians using tools, processes and effective communications during high impact interventions

Understanding organisational issues

Interpreting national policies and frameworks

Market Research and Assessment including data analysis for high value and impact procurement and interventions

Portfolio, Programme and Project expertise to aid with strategic design

Leadership Alignment and Engagement

Operating Model Development

Human Centred Design

Outcome and Metric Development

Qualifications Essential

Educated to Master's degree level Evidence of senior leadership experience and continuous leadership development to support leading teams across an organisation Evidence of continuous professional and personal development

Desirable

Recognised qualification in Portfolio and Programme Management Recognised project management qualification (e.g., PRINCE) Qualification or demonstrable experience in statistics

Experience Essential

Significant experience of working at senior/director level in a large and complex organisation. Demonstrates experience of partnership working and delivering across organisational boundaries Be able to offer practical experience of working at Board and Sub-Board level. Excellence in writing strategies and papers in a succinct and inclusive manner and presenting strategic business cases Significant senior management experience in leading service development or change in the NHS or similarly complex organisation. Proven track record in delivery of sustainable results Experience managing and resolving conflict and disputes effectively Specialist knowledge, experience and evidence of developing interventions that improve the functionality of teams using organisational development interventions Knowledge, experience, and evidence of co designing and delivering training modules on team development, Continuous quality improvement and strategy and operating model design The ability to develop others by connecting multiple areas of specialist knowledge including leadership development; coaching and mentoring; continuous quality improvement, strategy, portfolio, programme and project design and statistical process control to monitor improvement Able to demonstrate a proven track record of achievement at a senior level in the public or private sectors Evidence of an ability to develop and articulate strategic concepts and to simplify complexity to engage a full range of stakeholders
