We are looking to recruit a positive, reliable, and motivated Speech and Language Therapist to join our team on a full time (1.0 WTE) permanent contract.
Main duties of the job
In this development post you would be supported with extensive supervision and training to progress to a Band 6 role within an agreed time frame (expected 18 months) and having met specific requirements as outlined in the attached job description document.
This is an exciting position to support to our patients with swallowing and/or communication difficulties following surgery, prolonged intubations, recurrent laryngeal nerve injuries, stroke, hypoxic brain injury etc. We help rehabilitate patients from critical care to home, using evidenced based treatments and approaches. We lead an established FEES service and collaborate with our SALT colleagues at Liverpool University Foundation Hospitals to deliver a weekly videofluoroscopy clinic.
You will have the opportunity to support patients on critical care as well as on our surgical and medical wards. You will take a lead role within our stroke team, contributing to weekly MDT meetings and staff training.
Due to the nature of our patients, it would be favourable if you had an interest in developing skills in instrumental swallowing assessments.

Regular clinical supervision from your band 7 and 8a colleagues and peer supervision with junior therapists across the MDT. Regular exposure and ample opportunities to develop competencies in FEES, critical care, VFS and tracheostomy management. Diploma/Degree/MSc in Speech and Language Therapy HCPC Registration

Dysphagia practitioner Membership of relevant clinical interest or professional group
Knowledge & Experience Essential
Evidence of recent and relevant CPD including attendance at courses relevant to speech and language therapy.
