About this role

Job summary Neonatal Ward Clerk: Part time (18 hours)

We are seeking a professional, motivated, flexible person to join our team. The successful applicant will be expected to be computer literate, have effective communication skills and maintain strict confidentiality.

The role will require a range of duties, both administrative and reception, to assist the Dr's, Nurses and Support staff within our busy Neonatal Ward, helping maintain the smooth running of the ward.

The role requires excellent organisational skills, and the ability to be calm and patient under pressure. A smart and professional appearance and attitude is essential as the Ward Clerk is often the first point of contact with women and their families, visitors and staff. Please note that whilst the trust does offer sponsorship this role is unfortunately not eligible for visa sponsorship under the UK Health and Care Worker/Skilled visa route. This is due to the position not meeting the minimum salary threshold of £25,000 and the required skill level set by UK Visas and Immigration.

Main duties of the job

Administrative/Clerical

1. Responsible for collection of notes for the clinic, filing all relevant results in patient records, tracking and returning notes.

2. Greeting patients and visitors to the ward

3. Reception duties whereby all relevant paperwork is compiled and notes are attended to.

4. Answer the telephone and take and record messages whilst adhering to the telephone standard applicable throughout the Trust and alert the Nursing staff to any action required.

5. Provide clerical support to the Nurses and Dr's in relation to filing, emailing, faxing and obtaining patient records and results as appropriate.

6. Responsible for the ordering and collection of stationery and ensuring all appropriate documents, Patient Information Leaflets and general items required are well stocked and readily available.

7. Inputting data onto relevant databases

8. Passing on information to the Nursing team

9. Issue client car park permits and direct them to the general office.

10. Assist with the paper results daily by checking for appointments, filing and issuing letters to the patient as instructed by the Nurses

11. Provide holiday and sickness cover for other clerical staff as required.
