Job summary
This role will provide support to our Clinicians in the receipt and preparation of repeat prescriptions for our patients our Care Navigators.
You will be a point of contact for enquiries about prescriptions from patients and community pharmacies. As such, a good telephone manner and excellent communication skills are essential.
To thrive in this role, you will enjoy utitlising your exceptional organisational and prioritising skills, combined with excellent attention to detail. Problem solving on a day-to day basis around issues relating to your work, you will also enjoy working closely as a team to achieve objectives and ensure that your prescription workload is managed in a timely manner.
Main duties of the job
Process repeat prescription requests received by phone, email, post, slips and the online access system, in accordance with practice protocol. Respond to queries from patients and pharmacies in a courteous, timely and efficient manner, by telephone, email and face-to-face and maintain precise records of communication. Produce prescriptions for the GP to sign in / authorise. Generate requests for medication on behalf of the patient for non-repeat items Ensure medication reviews are appropriately arranged by maintaining an accurate recall system Act upon compliance issues, liaising with the appropriate clinician. Input data into the patients healthcare records as necessary

Following up changes with drug company representatives where necessary. Maintaining and updating the patient record, adding new drugs and monitoring patient repeats. Liaising with the ICB medicines management team Submitting all unsigned prescriptions to the partners. Generating nurses prescriptions. Sorting post-dated prescriptions. Attending meetings at the Surgery as necessary. Any other reasonable duties required to support the needs of the Surgery. Sign posting patients to appropriate services
Dealing with queries and repeat prescription requests in person, by telephone and electronically Working with the wider pharmacy team to assist with queries, tasks, cost-effective prescribing, QOF compliance and medicines optimisation. Ensuring patients have the correct monitoring needed for their medication or conditions Helping with drug audits, alerts and reporting

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
GCSE grade 9 to 4 in English and Maths
Experience Essential
It is essential that applicants have at least a grade 4 or above in GCSE Maths & English
Desirable
Previous experience working as a Prescriptions Clerk is not essential but is desirable.
