Job summary
Toassistpractitioner psychologists in the delivery of a specialist applied psychology service in an eating disorders day service including guided self-help and group work.
o To provide clinical work as required by the service, under the direct guidance, closeclinicaland professional supervision of a practitioner psychologist.
o Toassistin clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, development of audit and/or research projects,teachingand project work.
o To work following clinical guidelines and the policies and procedures of the service, while closely supervised and regularly seeking help from clinical/professional supervisor or manager.
o To provide meal support to service users.
Main duties of the job
Toassistthe team with meal support and meal modelling with patients and supporting specific patients with 1:1 support via behavioural experiments.
Toassistin the design and implementation of audit and research projects to inform theservice, Psychologistand others in the development of Trust psychology and other services, trainingprovisionand research activities.
To receive regular clinical and professional supervisionin accordance withprofessional practice guidelines
To ensure that the post-holder has sufficient resources by estimating future needs and requesting supplies as needed.

Day Services are delivered from the Maudsley Eating Disorders Outpatients unit. The service is home to the FREED project (First episode Rapid Early intervention forEating Disorders) and continues to grow, providing evidence-based models, and is highly active in research.

To provide psychological assessments for clients in the Eating Disorders Day Service under the close supervision of a practitioner psychologist.
To provide protocol based individual psychological interventions for clients in the Eating Disorders Day Service including guided self-help, CREST and CRT.
To arrange, schedule and provide protocol-based group psychological interventions for clients in the Eating Disorders Day Service.
Toassistthe psychologists in the development of individual or group clinical materials or training materials.

Qualifications Essential
2:1 (Hons) in Psychology
Desirable
Entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society Postgraduate training relevant to mental health
Knowledge Essential
Graduate level knowledge of psychological research methodology and statistical analysis. Awareness of racial and diversity issues Good theoretical knowledge of the problems experienced by and needs of people with eating disorders and of methods of assessment and treatment.
Desirable
Paid experience in a service providing psychological therapies
Skills & abilities Essential
Skills in relevant psychological assessment and interventions that enable working as a pre-qualified practitioner with close clinical supervision. Well-developed verbal and written communication skills including communicating complex, information to clients, families and colleagues. Skills in providing supporting teaching and training provided by psychologists or others to other professional groups. Well-developed IT skills including entry and analysis of research data.
Experience Essential
Sufficient post-graduate experience of psychological assessment and treatment of clients with a range of psychological needs in mental health to be able to work clinically with close direct supervision. Experience that supports working with, and addressing issues of, diversity within local communities. This may have been gained through work, research, volunteering and / or lived experience. Post-graduate experience of conducting research projects or audits.
