Salary: £27,976 per annum, pro rata

Location: Blackburn with Darwen (office-based in Blackburn city centre plus work in our communities)
About the role
Deliver one-to-one stop smoking support through face-to-face, telephone and virtual appointments.
Develop personalised quit plans and advise on treatment options, including nicotine replacement therapy.
Carry out carbon monoxide monitoring and maintain accurate client records.
Manage your own caseload and monitor clients' progress.
Work with GP practices, community organisations, schools and other partners to promote the service and reach those who could benefit most.
Support community events and health promotion activities.
Take part in ongoing training and professional development.
Main duties of the job
Deliver high-quality stop smoking support through face-to-face, telephone and virtual consultations, ensuring services are responsive to individual needs.
Assess clients' needs and develop personalised treatment plans using evidence-based behaviour change techniques and approved stop smoking interventions.
Provide information and guidance on stop smoking treatments, including nicotine replacement therapy and other approved pharmacotherapies, enabling clients to make informed decisions about their care.
Monitor client progress, review treatment plans and adapt interventions to maximise successful quit outcomes.
Carry out carbon monoxide monitoring and maintain accurate, timely and confidential client records in line with organisational, contractual and national requirements.
Manage an allocated caseload, ensuring appointments, follow-up activity and administrative tasks are completed effectively.
Build and maintain productive relationships with healthcare professionals, community organisations and other stakeholders to increase referrals and improve access to services.
Promote stop smoking services through community engagement, health promotion activities, presentations and outreach initiatives, with particular focus on reaching underserved communities and reducing health inequalities.
Contribute to achieving service objectives by maintaining high standards of quality, performance and client experience.

Participate fully in induction, mandatory training, supervision, team meetings and continuing professional development.
Maintain knowledge of current evidence, national guidance and best practice relating to smoking cessation and behaviour change.

Work collaboratively with colleagues across Solutions4Health and partner organisations to deliver integrated, high-quality services.

About the role
As a Stop Smoking Advisor, you'll support people to stop smoking through personalised advice, encouragement and evidence-based treatment. Working in community settings across Blackburn with Darwen, you'll build trusted relationships with clients and help them develop the confidence and motivation to make lasting changes.

You'll be:
Empathetic, approachable and an excellent communicator. Passionate about improving health and reducing inequalities. Well organised and able to manage a varied workload. Comfortable working independently and as part of a team. You'll also have:
Experience supporting people in a health, wellbeing, community, social care or other people-focused role. Good IT skills and experience maintaining accurate records. A full UK driving licence and the ability to travel across Blackburn with Darwen. An NCSCT Smoking Cessation qualification (desirable, not essential). Educated to A Level standard (or equivalent), or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and experience. Experience of supporting people to achieve positive behaviour or lifestyle change. Experience of delivering high-quality customer or client-focused services. Understanding of behaviour change approaches and person-centred support. Understanding of the health impacts of smoking. Awareness of health inequalities and the importance of reducing barriers to accessing services. Understanding of confidentiality and information governance principles. Experience of maintaining accurate electronic records and managing a varied workload. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to build rapport with people from diverse backgrounds. Ability to motivate and support behaviour change. Good organisational and time management skills. Competent IT skills, including accurate data entry. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Motivational interviewing skills. Compassionate, approachable and respectful. Passionate about improving health and wellbeing. Desirable
NCSCT Smoking Cessation Practitioner qualification or willingness to achieve within an agreed timeframe. Experience within smoking cessation, public health, health improvement or community services. Experience delivering group sessions, workshops or health promotion activities. Knowledge of current smoking cessation guidance, pharmacotherapies and national best practice. Experience of delivering presentations or community engagement activities.
