Job summary
We are seeking to appoint a Medical Secretary for the Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department in Care Group 3 for 22.5 hours per week over 3 days, fixed term for 6months.This is a busy, varied and rewarding role in which you will work closely with Consultants, medical and nursing teams and a wide range of administrative colleagues, to provide an efficient and responsive service for our patients.We are looking for a motivated individual with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills to join our secretary administration team. Candidates should possess a professional attitude to their work and have the ability to work flexibly in an extremely busy and rapidly changing environment. You must be fully IT literate with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Knowledge and experience of Meditech is desirable.
Main duties of the job
The Production of patient/client information letters via audio typing to assist Health Care Professionals in the day to day management of patient careWorking to deadlinesCommunicating well with staff of all grades and disciplinesAccurately record and complete patient information maintaining confidentiality at all timesUndertaking audio transcription, including medical terminologyResponsible for making appointments as necessaryLiaising between Trust staff and outside agencies as requiredOrganise meetings as necessary, take and transcribe minutesReceiving and dealing with telephone and e-mails in a timely and professional manner

Experience Essential
Previous medical secretarial/administration experience Audio typing - previous experience and / or qualification
Desirable
Previous office experience within a healthcare environment Microsoft Office - previous experience and / or qualification Previous use of databases, ie Meditech
Knowledge Essential
Knowledge of medical terminology, ideally within Obstetrics & Gynaecology
Desirable
Awareness of NHS Policies, practices and procedures Awareness of the Data Protection Act and understanding of the need to maintain confidentiality
Qualifications Essential
RSA Word Processing / OCR Word Processing qualification, or NVQ 3 equivalent 3 GCSEs grade C/4 or equivalent education to include English language
