Job summary
The Ridings Medical Group is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Practice Nurse (Fixed term for one year - maternity cover) to join our well established and supportive Integrated Clinical Team. Our team includes Advanced Care Practitioners, Practice Nurses and Healthcare Assistants who work collaboratively to deliver high quality patient care across our five practices.
This position is 28-32 hours per week, worked across all The Ridings Medical Group sites. The exact working pattern will be agreed with the successful candidate, offering a degree of flexibility where possible. This role would suit a qualified Practice Nurse with experience in areas such as childhood immunisations, travel vaccinations, cervical cytology and chronic disease management. Excellent communication skills, flexibility and a patient focused approach are essential for this role.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of treatment duties, such as:
Wound care and dressings Suture removal Blood pressure monitoring ECGs Peak flow readings Injections Childhood immunisations Travel vaccinations Coil fitting and contraceptive implant proceduresA key part of the role is the day to day management of chronic disease clinics, including asthma, diabetes, vascular disease and COPD.

Job description Job responsibilities
To assist General Practitioners in the care of their patients. This includes treatment, preventative care, screening and patient education. This may be on an NHS basis or private basis.
The role is 28-32 hours per week, worked across all The Ridings Medical Group sites. The exact working pattern will be agreed with the successful candidate, offering a degree of flexibility where possible. This role would suit a qualified Practice Nurse with experience in areas such as childhood immunisations, travel vaccinations, cervical cytology and chronic disease management.
The successful candidate will be a strong team player, able to work collaboratively and confidently within a multidisciplinary team across multiple sites. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, flexibility and a patient-focused approach are essential for this role. The ideal candidate will demonstrate professional standards, supporting health promotion and disease prevention initiatives and contributing to the ongoing development of practice services to ensure excellent patient outcomes.

Qualifications Essential
Registered first level nurse. Experience of working as a Practice Nurse within General Practice. Good standard of general education.
Experience Essential
Involvement in implementing and using protocols, PGDs, PSDs and clinical guidelines. Experience in long term conditions, vaccinating (travel & child immunisations), cervical screening and phlebotomy. Experience of managing effective change. Minimum 2 years post-registration experience.
Desirable
A detailed and advanced working knowledge of SystmOne, particularly in respect of searches, coding, data quality etc
Special knowledge and competencies Essential
Demonstrate the application of evidenced based practice. Able to demonstrate a depth and breadth of current issues and policies within the NHS and have the ability to translate into General Practice. Ability to work as part of a large team and in conjunction with other health care professionals, but also able to work independently. High level of clinical skills and competency relevant to the role. Understanding and experience of interagency working and adult/child protection. Evidence of continued professional development. Experience of Clinical Governance and risk assessment. Accountability of own role.
