Job summary
As a Domestic Services Assistant, you will play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment for patients, visitors and staff. Working as part of the Estates and Facilities team, you will ensure ward and departmental areas are cleaned in accordance with National Standards of Cleanliness and Trust policies.
Duties include routine and enhanced cleaning of clinical and non-clinical areas, replenishing consumables, maintaining infection prevention and control standards, undertaking terminal and deep cleans, cleaning fixtures and fittings, changing curtains, carrying out bed cleaning duties and responding to emergency cleaning requirements when required. The post holder will work closely with clinical and non-clinical colleagues to support a safe patient environment.

Main duties of the job
Carry out cleaning duties in wards, departments and public areas in line with cleaning schedules and National Standards of Cleanliness.
Undertake wet mopping, damp dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, buffing, scrubbing and floor maintenance activities.
Complete terminal and deep cleans, including cleaning infected areas in accordance with Trust policies.
Change curtains as part of planned programmes and following isolation or terminal cleans.
Ensure all areas remain clean, safe and ready for inspection or audit.
Clean fixtures, fittings, furniture and equipment in ward and departmental areas.
Replenish consumables including soap, paper towels and toilet rolls.
Carry out bed cleaning and making duties as required.
Respond promptly to spillages, incidents and emergency cleaning requests.
Follow Infection Prevention and Control, COSHH, Health and Safety and Fire Safety at all times.
Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and store supplies in accordance with Trust guidance.
Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment and maintain high standards of personal hygiene.
Complete cleaning records and operational documentation accurately.
Attend mandatory training and participate in continuous professional development.
Contribute positively as a member of the Domestic Services team and support the delivery of high-quality patient services
