About this role

Job summary

The post holder will support the day-to-day management, use and development of the Trust's patient safety and governance system (DCIQ). This includes supporting incident management, complaints, risk and assurance reporting so that information is recorded accurately, managed consistently and used to improve patient safety.

Working as part of the Patient Safety Team, the post holder will provide specialist support for system administration, data quality, LFPSE compliance, risk management and governance reporting. They will work with clinical services, corporate teams, governance leads, digital teams and system suppliers to improve system use, strengthen reporting and support organisational learning.

Main duties of the job

Provide specialist administration and day-to-day support for the patient safety system and associated governance modules.

Line manage and support the Patient Safety Systems Administrator, including day-to-day guidance, workload oversight and supervision.

Maintain system forms, workflows, alerts, user access, role profiles and reports in line with agreed governance arrangements.

Support system testing, upgrades and new functionality, working with the system supplier and Trust Digital Services as needed.

Maintain system guidance, standard operating procedures and business continuity information.

Promote accurate reporting, shared learning and a just and learning safety culture through consistent system use.

Support the effective use and maintenance of the patient safety system across Care Groups and Corporate Directorates.

Support the review of incidents, complaints, patient experience themes and risks to identify emerging safety issues and learning.

Prepare routine reports on quality, overdue reviews, high-scoring risks, action completion and emerging themes.

Work with the Medical devices team to support the delivery of National alerts such as NatPSA and MHRA.

Person Specification

Patient Safety Systems Experience Essential

Educated to diploma/degree level or equivalent level of specialist knowledge and experience. Evidence of continuing professional development in patient safety, risk management, governance, analytics, digital systems or quality improvement.

Desirable

Experience of supporting system upgrades, user acceptance testing or workflow improvement projects. Experience of working in the NHS or a similarly complex healthcare environment. Patient safety system supplier training, patient safety, risk management, quality improvement, project support or data/reporting qualification.

IT experience Essential

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint in particular experience with Excel. Experience of producing reports, dashboards or assurance information from complex information systems.

Desirable

Experience of delivering training or producing user guidance, SOPs and quick reference materials.
