Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust to appoint a Trust Registrar in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
This post would suit candidates wishing to further develop their clinical and operative skills within a supportive department with a strong educational culture. Applications are welcomed from experienced Specialty Doctors, Trust Grade Registrars and post-CCT doctors seeking further specialist experience.
The successful candidate will join an established team of 18 registrar-level doctors providing two-tier middle-grade cover across a busy Obstetrics and Gynaecology service delivering over 4,500 births per year. The department includes a seven-day Early Pregnancy Unit, specialist gynaecology services and close links with Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.

The department is committed to supporting career development, including advanced labour ward skills, benign gynaecological surgery, early pregnancy, colposcopy, ultrasound and maternal medicine. Opportunities for development in specific areas will be supported where possible, considering departmental resources and the training requirements of deanery trainees. Candidates pursuing CESR or specialist skill development will be supported through a structured educational and appraisal process.

The post holder will participate in: Labour ward care and obstetric on-call duties Emergency gynaecology services General obstetrics and gynaecology clinics Elective operating lists Specialist clinics and multidisciplinary team meetings Audit, governance and quality improvement activitiesThe post holder will have opportunities to contribute to multidisciplinary team discussions and service development initiatives across the department.This post is offered initially for 12 months, with the possibility of extension.

Qualifications and professional training Essential
Full GMC registration MRCOG 3 or equivalent

ATSMs completed
Clinical experience and effectiveness Essential
Clinical training and experience in general obstetrics and gynaecology at registrar level Competent to run the Delivery Suite Regular Participation in Audits and risk meetings

Audits and Publications MOET or similar courses
Teaching and training experience Desirable
Experience of supervising junior medical staff and teaching and training junior medical staff and midwives/nurses
Management and administrative experience Desirable
Evidence of management and administrative experience. Experience of rota management
