About this role

Job Title: Behaviour Support Mentor

Location: The Milton Keynes Academy

Salary: £30,024 - £35,412 (FTE) £26,527.21 - £31,287.69 (Pro Rata)

Contract Type: Permanent, Full time (Term Time Only)

Working Pattern: 37 Hours per week (Monday - Thursday 8am - 4pm and Friday 8am - 3:30pm)

About You:

The Milton Keynes Academy are looking for a caring, resilient and proactive individual who is passionate about supporting young people to achieve their potential. You will have experience working with students, strong communication and relationship-building skills, and the ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.

You will be committed to promoting positive behaviour, inclusion and student wellbeing, with a strong understanding of safeguarding and a belief that every young person can succeed. Above all, you will share our values and be dedicated to creating a supportive environment where all students can thrive.

Our Ideal candidate will have:

Have experience working with young people, ideally within an educational or pastoral support setting.

Be passionate about helping students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

Demonstrate a calm, patient and resilient approach when managing challenging situations.

Have experience supporting students with behavioural, social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.

Build positive and professional relationships with students, families, colleagues and external agencies.

Be an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal and listening skills.

Be committed to safeguarding, inclusion and promoting student wellbeing.

Have the confidence to work independently whilst contributing effectively as part of a wider team.

Be organised, adaptable and able to manage competing priorities.

Share our values and have a genuine belief that every young person can succeed when given the right support.

About our Behaviour Support Team:

Our team is dedicated to helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes. Working across both Ruston and the wider school, we provide consistent, tailored support for students with complex behavioural needs. We are a proactive, flexible, and collaborative team that adapts to the changing needs of our students, creating opportunities for them to develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed. This is a highly rewarding environment for individuals who are passionate about making a genuine difference in the lives of young people.
