About this role

The Department of Chemistry is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Medicinal Development and Formulation. This is an exciting opportunity to join a globally leading teaching and research environment that aims to bring real world impact to patients, public and clinicians across the world. You will join a Department with cross-Faculty multidisciplinary activities targeting some of the most important healthcare issues including the creation of candidate medicines from repurposed existing drug molecules through to advancing new drugs that have exited the discovery phase.

You will be supported through involvement in existing and arising research programmes and in developing their own distinctive, externally funded portfolio of outstanding pharmaceutically relevant research. We are particularly interested in candidates who have an interest or track record in the growing area of long-acting medicine and are able to engage in formulation activities to create new medicinal product options.

The post will build on the Department’s established strengths in its Chemistry of World Health theme and contribute strongly to the University’s Therapeutics Innovation Frontier which spans the Faculties of Science & Engineering and Health & Life Sciences. The creation of new formulated medicines is critical to healthcare impact and direct engagement with the Centre of Excellence for Long-acting Therapeutics will also be strongly encouraged.

You will be expected to develop an independent research programme that complements and extends existing activity in the Department, contribute to research-led teaching, attract external funding, and help grow the long-term strategy for the Chemistry for World Health area.
