About this role

THIS OPPORTUNITY

The Associate Director of Community Engagement & Partnerships reports to the Senior Director of Policy, Partnerships & External Affairs and is a member of the External Affairs team. This role leads statewide promotion efforts for all WSOS scholarship programs. The top priorities for this role include:

• Lead a targeted statewide scholarship outreach and promotion strategy that generates strong scholarship application volume and increases representation from targeted communities within Washington state

• Build, deepen, and activate a statewide network of trusted community, education, regional, Scholar alumni, and other partners who can effectively connect prospective students to WSOS

• Leverage partnerships to strengthen WSOS’s broader impact by identifying opportunities for deeper collaboration, and connecting partners to organizational priorities

The ideal candidate is:

• A proactive community connector who is energized and passionate about increasing access to higher education, particularly for those who are historically excluded from trade, STEM and health care careers

• An engaging, confident, and compelling speaker who can comfortably represent WSOS with a broad range of students, communities, and partners

• Adept at building and maintaining relationships

This role is highly external-facing, requiring community meetings and attendance at strategic events; work hours will vary to accommodate promotion events, including occasional evenings, weekends, and in-state travel. The main WSOS office is in Seattle’s Mt. Baker neighborhood. Most staff work on a hybrid schedule, working from the WSOS office two days per week. This role is expected to be fully remote within Washington state with in- office time as needed determined in collaboration with your supervisor.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

• Lead implementation of WSOS’s statewide scholarship promotion strategy and annual recruitment plan

• Work in partnership with internal and external peers to develop data-informed decisions around promotional strategies and activities for priority populations, schools, communities, and regions as defined by the organizational strategic plan, application performance, and external initiatives that are related to WSOS goals

• Develop targeted outreach tactics to increase representation from communities furthest from opportunity while maintaining sufficient statewide application volume and geographic representation

• Establish measures of success, monitor performance throughout the application cycle, and adjust strategies based on results and learning

• Partner with Marketing and Communications on messaging, materials, campaigns, and other promotional resources needed to support outreach

• Other duties as assigned
