About Ngāti Hine Health Trust
For over 30 years, Ngāti Hine Health Trust has been a cornerstone of oranga (wellbeing) in Te Tai Tokerau. We deliver services rooted in kaupapa Māori values, spanning health, housing, and education.
As the PSBP (HRBP), you’ll partner alongside the Leads focusing on recruitment, retention, and resource management ensuring best practice is embedded into our organisation.
About the Role
This is a new role, where you'll be reporting to a motivated and supportive Head of People Services, where you will partner with leaders across the organisation to develop business and people solutions, workforce plans and initiatives to improve employee experience and performance. You will coach and support leaders at varying levels on wide ranging people topics, and work with your People Services colleagues to develop and implement best practice, continuous improvement and on-going learning.
You will bring your leadership and expertise to operational people related issues, providing quality and effective advice, coaching and support to the Leaders in areas of employee investigations, performance improvement planning and return-to-work matters. You also will support the day-to-day delivery of key HR change initiatives and projects driven by the people plan and organisation needs.
About You
You will be an engaging and confident generalist HR practitioner with around 5-7 years' experience in an advisory or business partnering role. With a sound current knowledge of New Zealand employment legislation, you will have worked through complex ER issues and investigation processes, dealt with challenging workforce issues, and a high case load.
Your ability to influence and develop strong relationships with your internal stakeholders will have enabled you to successfully support or deliver change processes, implement strategic HR policies and practices, and coach to build capability and improved performance. You will have experience within unionised environments which is likely to be from larger, complex organisations such as the health, Government or manufacturing sectors.
Regular travel to the 3 main operational sites within Whangarei and Mid-North is required and the role could have in part hybrid/flexible working options available.
Key Responsibilities
• Strategic Alignment: Ensure that HR initiatives and policies support the company's strategic goals.
• Business Partnering: Act as a trusted advisor to leaders, providing HR expertise and guidance.
• Talent Management: Involved in areas like recruitment, performance management, succession planning, and employee engagement and development.
• Data Analysis: Use HR data to inform decision-making and identify areas for improvement.
• HR Centre of Excellence: Providing expertise and guidance on HR policies, employment law, compliance matters and employee relations activities.
Skills required
• Proven experience influencing at all levels.
• Proven experience as an HR Business Partner or similar role, demonstrating successful HR strategy development and implementation.
• In-depth knowledge of HR best practices, talent management, employee engagement, and employment legislation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data to inform HR strategies and decision-making.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
• Can demonstrate the ability to lead and drive change, influence decision-makers, and facilitate organisational development.
• Have a strategic mindset, coupled with a customer-centric approach to HR, focussed on driving business success through effective HR solutions.
• Hands on with business support as we are in all the trenches.
• Must have relevant qualification in HR i.e. Communications, Business, Applied Science.
Additional
• Sharing the workload with the Head of People Services as the two roles will be supporting each other closely aligned for continuity and consistency.
• First line support for Leads giving guidance and ensuring quality of communication.
