Position Summary Hokanson Companies is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Property Accountant to join our accounting team. This entry-level position is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or someone beginning a career in accounting.

The Property Accountant will assist with maintaining financial records for assigned properties while receiving training and support from experienced team members. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, comfortable working with numbers, and eager to learn about accounting within the commercial real estate industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with maintaining financial records for assigned properties

• Process billing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable

• Prepare basic general ledger entries

• Assist with monthly bank reconciliations

• Record journal entries and account adjustments

• Help prepare and distribute monthly financial statements

• Communicate professionally with property owners, tenants, vendors, and team members

• Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation

• Complete assigned tasks accurately and meet reporting deadlines

• Learn and follow established accounting procedures and company policies

Qualifications

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred

• Previous accounting or bookkeeping experience is helpful but not required

• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

• Experience with Yardi software is a plus but not required

• Strong organizational and time-management skills

• Professional written and verbal communication skills

• Careful attention to detail and accuracy

• Willingness to learn and work collaboratively

• Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines

Work Environment

• Professional office setting with a collaborative team atmosphere

• Primarily desk-based work involving computer and telephone use

• Standard business hours, Monday through Friday
