OVERVIEW
The mission of the Community Care Club (CCC), which is associated with Community Roots Academy (CRA) public K-8 charter school, is to provide children ages four years and nine months through 14 years old with quality enrichment activities before and after school, as well as with full-day camps during the fall, winter, spring and summer breaks. All of our programs are conducted in a safe, educational and fun environment. We encourage our children to explore their potential through project-based learning, creativity and play.
The Sustainability Coordinator develops, maintains and implements school sustainability practices. The Coordinator is responsible for communicating initiatives-related activities and participating in special events. The Coordinator is responsible for providing a rich and engaging garden learning experience for students and organizing daily activities within the organization(s).
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Coordinate, develop and implement sustainability practices
• Coordinate school-wide sustainability initiatives and education
• Develop and maintain documentation of sustainability initiatives; photos, blog, videos
• Additional responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor in relation to sustainability and garden education
• Ability to work effectively with children, teachers, staff and parents
• Ability to resolve conflict and manage challenging behaviors in a positive and constructive manner
• Collaborate with staff and administrators to enhance the school’s sustainability initiatives
• Builds involvement in and commitment to the school sustainability initiatives within the school community, including teachers, administrators, students, parents and community volunteers
• Maintain strong student management practices to create a positive and productive learning environment
• Works proactively, independently and collaboratively
• Adaptable and innovative approach to hands-on lesson facilitation Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
• High school graduate or equivalent
• Knowledge of sustainability, environmental science
• Minimum of 2 years of facilitation or teaching experience; outdoor group management experience preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Must pass fingerprint clearance, TB test, pre-employment physical, and provide immunization record of measles and pertussis vaccines.
• Must complete required trainings upon Hire: CPR, First Aid, Mandated Reporter, Sexual Harassment and Pest Management.

• Observe students and maintain order

• Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors and on the telephone
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see and observe students; walk and/or stand for extended periods of time; hear and speak to exchange information
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to possess dexterity of hand and fingers; kneel, bend at the waist, sit on the floor, climb stairs, and reach overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally to perform assigned duties; lift light objects.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors and on the telephone
• Duties are normally performed in a school, classroom, playground and/or other outdoor environments
• Duties may be performed in seasonal heat, sun, and cold or adverse weather, or on field trips away from school
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
