Job Purpose To manage the safe and successful delivery of Cutter Soil Mixing (CSM) works on the Lower Thames Crossing project, ensuring performance, quality, safety, programme and commercial outcomes are achieved within a major infrastructure alliance environment. The Project Manager will take responsibility for the planning, coordination and execution of CSM activities, working closely with engineering, plant, production and project teams to ensure the works are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with technical and contractual requirements. Main Responsibilities Lead the delivery of Cutter Soil Mixing (CSM) works from planning and mobilisation through to execution and completion. Manage and coordinate CSM construction activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, to the required quality standards, within programme and budget. Oversee the planning and deployment of specialist CSM plant, equipment, personnel and associated resources. Coordinate closely with engineering, design, geotechnical and construction teams to ensure CSM works are delivered in accordance with approved designs, specifications and construction methodologies. Monitor and manage key production parameters, productivity and performance to ensure efficient delivery of the works. Determine and manage project priorities to ensure the effective allocation and utilisation of resources. Regularly review project productivity, effectiveness, quality, programme and commercial performance, implementing corrective actions where required. Participate in the resolution of technical and construction issues during technical meetings and throughout the delivery phase. Ensure appropriate quality control and assurance processes are implemented throughout the CSM works, including compliance with project specifications, inspection and testing requirements. Identify and manage construction risks associated with ground conditions, specialist plant, sequencing and interfaces with other project activities. Ensure a safe working environment is maintained for all team members and that all activities comply with project and company health, safety and environmental requirements. Maintain the Company’s professional standards and take responsibility for compliance with internal procedures, client requirements and applicable external standards. Provide leadership and direction to the project team, ensuring effective engagement and utilisation of skills, competencies and technical expertise to drive operational efficiency and quality. Build effective relationships with the client, alliance partners, designers, subcontractors and other key project stakeholders. Qualifications & Experience Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline. Proven experience delivering Cutter Soil Mixing (CSM), soil mixing or comparable specialist geotechnical works on major infrastructure or civil engineering projects. Strong technical understanding of ground improvement, soil mixing, deep foundations and geotechnical construction techniques . Practical understanding of CSM construction methodology, specialist plant, production processes and associated quality control requirements. Experience managing specialist geotechnical plant, construction teams and subcontractors. Demonstrable experience managing projects against programme, cost, quality and safety objectives. Strong understanding of construction planning, sequencing, risk management and interfaces with other civil engineering activities. Experience working within major infrastructure projects, joint ventures or alliance environments would be advantageous. Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
