Description General janitorial tasks, such as sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, waxing floors, washing walls, and cleaning public rest rooms and offices. Will be required to operate mechanical janitorial equipment. Accountabilities Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) Develop and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, contractors and/or customers and effectively handle conflict situations Miscellaneous tasks as assigned by supervisor Qualifications - Required Ability to speak English in a clear, concise manner to communicate with coworker(s) and supervisor(s) Able to read and comprehend regulations and instructions as well as possess good verbal communication skills All applicants must have reached the age of 18 or above Qualifications - Preferred Physical and Mental Job Requirements Lift, carry, or otherwise move weights of up to 50 pounds occasionally. Work Conditions Union Pacific runs 24/7. This role may require working different shifts, overtime, holidays, and weekends according to the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Work occurs indoors and outdoors in all weather Prepared to work in settings that operate shop equipment like forklifts and cranes. Comfortable wearing personal protective gear for most of the day Follow safety protocols and practices. Prepared to work in settings that involve large equipment such as railcars, locomotives, and cranes.
