Relocation Assistance (based on eligibility) Nursing Care Assistant I-Duke Ambulatory Surgery Center Arringdon Pre Op/PACU Nursing Assistant I (NA I) – Position Summary The Nursing Assistant I (NA I) works closely with Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to provide direct patient care and support daily unit operations. This role assists patients with activities of daily living, monitors and documents patient information, helps prepare patients for procedures, and supports the healthcare team in delivering safe, compassionate care. Key Responsibilities Assist patients with bathing, feeding, dressing, grooming, toileting, ambulation, and other personal care needs. Obtain and document vital signs, intake and output, blood glucose levels (with appropriate training), and other patient information. Observe and report changes in patient condition to the nursing team. Assist with admissions, discharges, transfers, and patient transportation. Support providers and nurses during exams and procedures. Collect and transport specimens and perform routine tests as assigned. Maintain patient rooms, equipment, and supplies. Follow infection prevention, safety, and patient privacy standards. Participate in ongoing education and professional development activities. Required Qualifications Current Nursing Assistant I (NA I) listing with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services with no substantiated findings of abuse, neglect, fraud, or misappropriation of property. BCLS (Basic Life Support) certification required by the end of new hire orientation. Preferred Skills & Qualifications Knowledge of patient care practices, infection control, and hospital safety procedures. Strong communication and documentation skills. Ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and maintain patient confidentiality. Physical Requirements This is a physically active role requiring frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, lifting, repositioning, and assisting patients throughout the shift. Candidates must be able to safely move patients weighing more than 35 pounds with assistance or approved lifting equipment.
