Opportunity Overview As a Mechanical Engineer, you will contribute to the design and development of next-generation System Level Test (SLT) platforms and enabling technologies. This role focuses on delivering technically sound, innovative solutions to medium-complexity engineering problems while balancing customer requirements, technical risk, and manufacturing scalability. You will work closely with external customer-facing teams and internal cross-functional development partners to translate system architecture concepts into high-volume, manufacturable products. Design and develop automated industrial equipment and electro-mechanical systems for advanced SLT applications Synthesize requirements from multiple stakeholders into clear engineering tradeoffs, concepts, and system architectures Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Marketing, Applications, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and global engineering teams Contribute to the development of mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies including structures, cables, PCBAs, and precision mechanisms Drive solutions that support robotic test head manipulation, docking/clamping systems, and standardized test interfaces Engage with suppliers and global manufacturing partners to deliver cost-effective, scalable designs Apply sound engineering rigor to ensure safe, reliable, and failsafe system operation Influence long-term roadmaps by contributing technical expertise, innovative ideas, IP, and best practices Work on-site at contract manufactures to assist in design This role is responsible for managing relationships and coordinating activities with key automation vendors in Taiwan and throughout the region. Effective performance requires a high degree of fluency in both English and Mandarin to support cross-cultural communication and collaboration. In this role, you will also provide lifecycle support for Saturn/ARS platforms, traveling to customer and manufacturing sites in the region to develop firsthand insight into the highest-impact field issues. You will serve as a key engineering resource to Teradyne manufacturing engineers and contract manufacturers, driving timely resolution of design, quality, and sourcing challenges. You will additionally lead regional proof-of-concept and qualification testing for new and replacement components, ensuring continued reliability and supply continuity across the installed base. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience, with 10+ years in machine design; System Level test or manufacturing equipment experience preferred Strong ability to independently design, analyze, and test medium-complexity electro-mechanical systems and assemblies Deep expertise in mechanical design fundamentals including FEA, tolerancing, precision alignment, actuators, bearings, sensors, materials, and drawings Experience in supplier control High proficiency in SolidWorks; experience with PDM, ERP/MRP, and enterprise engineering systems Proven capability to rapidly conceptualize ideas and communicate design intent to customers, cross-functional teams, and suppliers Self-motivated, detail-oriented engineer with a disciplined approach and strong collaboration and communication skills Benefits Teradyne offers a variety of robust health and well-being benefit programs, including medical claims, group insurance, retirement plans, paid vacation & holidays, tuition assistance programs, and more. #LI-YL1
