The Regional Sales Manager sells services and products using technical, organizational, and customer knowledge to influence customers and assist them in applying the products/services to their automation needs. In addition, the position provides input and participates in the technical development of products and services. Responsibilities Essential Job Duties: Make sales contacts, research customer needs and develop application of products and services effectively by: Determine market strategies and goals for each product and service. Obtain and coordinate data and information from staff and member groups. Research and develop lists of potential customers. Conduct market research to determine customer needs and provide information to other staff. Evaluate product and service marketability in terms of customer’s technical and manufacturing needs. Follow-up on sales leads to potential customers. Maintain an up-to-date understanding of industry trends and technical developments that affect target markets. Establish and maintain industry contacts that lead to sales. Participate in sales forecasting and planning in an effective manner by: Research, develop, and maintain long and short-range sales plans. Develop and regularly updating reports of target customer projects; analyzing, and communicating monthly sales data to contribute to product/production planning. Participate in the development of new products and modification of existing products effectively and professionally by: Evaluate product and service marketability. Recommend new technical products and product modifications or terminations. Gather, analyze, and share customer technical information and feedback. Work with other staff to identify future customer needs. Determine customer satisfaction with products and services. Maintain an up-to-date working knowledge of newly developing technologies and gear manufacturing. Manage assigned sales projects and budgets in a timely and effective manner by: Preparation of quotations and technical proposals. Develop and project short and long-range budgets. Produce regular budget reports for the Manager. Provide accurate sales forecasting for budget planning. Manage technical aspects of committees and working groups effectively and professionally by: Maintain a working knowledge of internal policies, operations, and products. Competencies Education and Experience: Associate degree (Bachelor preferred) in business, or related field and 4-6 years of related/relevant experience to the role; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous 3-5 years of leadership experience preferred. Additional Requirements: Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 75% of the time. Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license and passport. Working overtime and working weekends is required when necessary.
