The role As an Electrical Fitter, you'll be responsible for maintaining, repairing and inspecting electrical systems and equipment within the Shiplift Facility. Your work will directly support the safe, reliable and efficient operation of critical defence infrastructure, helping ensure essential assets remain available when they are needed most. Day-to-day, you’ll be required to: Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and nuclear-implicated work across Shiplift systems and equipment. Identifying, diagnosing and rectifying faults, defects and equipment issues to maximise operational availability. Following established engineering processes while contributing ideas to improve performance, efficiency and productivity. Working safely in accordance with health and safety legislation, safe systems of work and control of work procedures. Supporting maintenance activities across the wider estate when required. This is a full-time, permanent position, based onsite at HMNB Clyde. Essential experience of the Electrical Fitter: Experience within a marine, industrial engineering or electrical maintenance environment. Confidence working at height, in confined spaces and in varied weather conditions. Ability to interpret engineering drawings and undertake fault-finding activities. Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality engineering standards. Experience of maintenance procedures, risk assessments, COSHH assessments and safe systems of work, alongside excellent teamwork skills. Qualifications for the Electrical Fitter: Recognised Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship qualified to SVQ Level 3 (or NVQ, City & Guilds equivalent), or HNC or above in an Electrical Engineering discipline with relevant industry experience. Security Clearance The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance for this role.
