Job Title: Controls EngineerJob DescriptionWe are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to develop and implement improvements to control systems and equipment using Factory Information Systems (FIS) data. This role involves leading problem-solving initiatives to resolve equipment performance issues and managing troubleshooting activities to identify root causes and implement fixes. You will play a key role in training manufacturing personnel and plant electricians, integrating controls into IT systems, and troubleshooting machinery, robot, automation, and controls issues. Additionally, you will coordinate project installations, program new automation setups, and review risk assessments for equipment safety.Responsibilities

• Develop and implement improvements to control systems using Factory Information Systems (FIS) data. • Lead problem-solving efforts to resolve equipment performance issues. • Coordinate resources to identify root causes and implement fixes. • Assist in training manufacturing personnel and plant electricians. • Integrate controls into IT systems like Factory Information Systems (FIS), Error Proofing, QWX, and QTS. • Troubleshoot machinery, robot, automation, and controls issues. • Use FIS plant monitoring software to review cycle times of equipment. • Review and coordinate project installations. • Reprogram equipment for engineering changes and improvements. • Maintain program backups for machinery and automation. • Program new installations of automation, machinery, material handling, and robots. • Review risk assessments as part of a team evaluating equipment safety. Essential Skills

• Experience in Controls Engineering and hands-on manufacturing exposure. • Siemens PLC programming experience. This is a first-shift position from 6:00am to 2:30pm, Monday through Friday, with minimal overtime required. Occasional Saturdays may be needed, with ample notice provided. The work environment is fast-paced and on-site, supporting the introduction of new and updated axle processes. Engineers work directly on the shop floor, providing hands-on support for machining and assembly operations during new product and process launches. The role requires comfort with PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment, production interlocks, safety systems, and automated stations. Engineers are expected to manage multiple workstreams and make adjustments directly on the shop floor as launch milestones approach. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Sterling Heights, MI. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $46.06 - $50.66/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
