ABOUT THE TEAM
Join the JAPAC Legal team, which leads all aspects of legal support for Adobe across the Asia Pacific region — spanning Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia, India, Korea, Japan, and the Greater China area including Hong Kong and Taiwan. We are a highly collaborative team, and our mission is to play a key role in driving regional growth while giving our business partners the best possible experience working with Legal.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Associate Senior Legal Counsel will be based in Seoul, Korea, reporting to the Director & Associate General Counsel in Singapore. In this role, you will act as the main legal point of contact coordinating Adobe's Korea business with opportunities to cross-support other Asia Pacific markets.
Serving as a trusted legal advisor to the Sales team in Korea, you will help structure deals. You will also help close deals using sound legal judgment and practical, results-focused advice. This includes reviewing and negotiating various types of commercial agreements, such as enterprise licensing transactions, collaborations with partners, and consulting engagements. You will also be providing legal support across complex regulatory compliances, anti-piracy initiatives, and engaging directly with functional teams to drive solutions.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Commercial
• Review, draft, and negotiate a broad range of contracts related to commercial dealings, including enterprise software and cloud licensing agreements, partner agreements, and consulting agreements. • Serve as the primary legal partner to Sales teams in Korea, providing timely, practical, and results-focused guidance to advance deals and close transactions using ethical and sound business practices. • Review and advise on marketing activities in the region, including promotions and contests, and ensure marketing activities follow local fair trade and consumer protection laws.
Anti-Piracy and License Compliance
• Support Korea anti-piracy enforcement and license compliance programs in market.
Regulatory Compliance, Policy and Disputes
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments in Korea relevant to Adobe's business, including data protection, AI regulation, digital markets, and software/technology policy, and provide timely internal briefings to the Legal and business teams. • Track enforcement trends and regulatory guidance from key Korean agencies (including the PIPC, KFTC, and MSIT) and work closely with internal functions to assess implications for Adobe's products, agreements, and business practices. • Liaise with industry associations and peer counsel networks to stay current on emerging policy developments affecting the technology sector in Korea. • Manage matters handled by outside counsel, collaborating with corporate litigation counsel to coordinate any disputes or litigation arising in Korea.
Employee Experience and Compliance Support
• Provide local legal support as needed on human resources and compliance matters, including working with regional employment and compliance counsel in implementing policies and processes, ensuring compliance with local employment laws, and assisting with managing employment disputes or investigations that may arise.
Others
• Support the procurement organization on vendor and supplier contracting. • Provide training and guidance to Sales, marketing, and other relevant teams on Adobe's corporate policies and legal processes. • Collaborate cross-functionally with other teams on global and regional legal initiatives and process improvement projects. • Perform other legal duties as reasonably required.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
• Qualification as an attorney-at-law in Korea preferred, with approximately 8 - 9 years of post-qualification experience. Otherwise, qualification as an attorney in the US, England, Australia, or a similar jurisdiction is required. You should have close to 8 to 9 years of experience as legal counsel in Korea. • Work history spanning both private practice in a reputable law firm and an in-house legal team at a large multinational company is strongly preferred. • Native written and oral proficiency in Korean, and excellent written and oral proficiency in English. • Demonstrated experience handling complex commercial and technology licensing matters independently, with strong judgment on when to raise highly complex issues with significant potential risk. • Experience in or proficiency with AI, privacy and litigation is highly desirable. Otherwise, demonstrate a keen interest and drive to develop in these areas. • Advanced knowledge of Korean laws, policies and industry trends, with a clear understanding of Adobe's current and future technologies, strategies, and competitors.
