About this role

We are looking for a Regional Head of Communications (m/f/d) Germany & Switzerland, based in Munich.

Your Team

You’ll be part of a global community of communications professionals, with global and national colleagues working together over media relations and external topics, internal and change communications, digital channels, and thought leadership content. It’s a highly collaborative team environment and culture, where taking individual ownership and responsibility are key, but always with the support of colleagues as part of a wider team.

The Impact You Will Have

As Regional Head of Communications for Germany & Switzerland at Allianz Commercial, you will shape and lead the full communications agenda for one of the company's most strategically significant markets. In this role, you will take direct leadership responsibility for the strategic planning, implementation and delivery of communications activities across the Allianz Commercial Germany & Switzerland region. Reporting directly to the Global Head of Communications and working closely with the Regional Managing Director and the EMEA President, you will also support communications across CEE countries including Austria, and coordinate closely with Allianz Versicherungs-AG and Allianz Suisse to ensure a well-aligned approach within the regional Commercial business segment. Given the importance of Germany in the Allianz Commercial business, this role carries significant visibility in the organisation.

What You'll Do

• Lead and execute the regional communications strategy for Germany & Switzerland, including close liaison with regional leadership, project stakeholders, Global Communications, and Global/Regional Marketing, as well as oversight for all Allianz Commercial communications activities across the region

• Drive proactive external communications and media relations across the region: develop and manage a regional media network, plan topic coverage, write and distribute press releases, pitch stories, field journalist enquiries, manage press briefings, and coordinate media relations for product launches and organisational developments

• Take direct responsibility for internal communications across the region - including change communications, leadership messaging, town halls, newsletters, briefing notes, and intranet content - supporting regional leadership and the EMEA President

• Advise and coach senior leadership and spokespeople on communications strategy, media relations, and messaging; plan and coordinate media training for managers and staff

• Lead crisis and issues communications planning and response, serving as the local point of contact for crisis communications; availability outside standard office hours will be required to respond to media enquiries and emerging issues

• Develop expertise-driven content for external communications in collaboration with the global team: white papers, expert reports, risk bulletins, and other content

• Support executive positioning through support for digital channels (especially LinkedIn)

• Increase coordination with Marketing to ensure an integrated, consistent approach across external and internal channels

• Support and contribute to regional and global communications team projects and ad hoc initiatives, including travel generally within the region for workshops and events

• Act as a leader and mentor for junior colleagues on communications topics, including any colleagues supporting communications in partnership with Allianz DE & CH

What You'll Bring

• Degree or qualification in Journalism, Communications, Business and any other related discipline

• Extensive hands-on corporate communications experience with a strong track record in media relations and internal communications, ideally in a multi-country or global organisation and including direct work with senior management

• Background in services or B2B communications preferred; experience in insurance is an advantage but not essential - expertise-driven communications in a knowledge-based industry is directly relevant

• Proven experience in project and change communications in a matrix or international environment

• Deep knowledge of communications principles and techniques across media relations, internal and external communications, and traditional and digital channels

• Strong journalistic skills: copywriting, information research and analysis, content generation (text, data, graphics), storytelling, and the ability to work accurately to tight deadlines

• Strategic orientation and understanding of the commercial business environment, enabling effective communication of complex business strategy

• Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills; ability to understand and navigate diverse perspectives and agendas

• A collaborative, team-first mindset - comfortable in a flat, low-hierarchy environment where shared success is valued over individual visibility

• Full working proficiency with the MS Office suite; hands-on experience with AI-enabled communications tools and familiarity with design applications, event tools, and other digital platforms

• Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools into communications workflows to enhance efficiency, content quality, and data-driven decision-making

• Composure and sound judgement under pressure, including in crisis situations

• Ability to prioritise and manage a high workload, identify key issues, and deliver to deadlines independently in a fast-changing environment

• German language proficiency at C2 level, equivalent to native-speaker level (spoken and written), and very advanced English (spoken and written)

• Expertise in integrating AI into various business functions, enhancing efficiency, and fostering a culture of data-driven innovation is crucial.
