Environmental Services Aide
Job Posting Description: Under general supervision and following established procedures, performs a variety of tasks to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of assigned areas. At times, may be required to do Aide I work as necessary. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Cleans and disinfects assigned clinical and non-clinical areas, including Operating Rooms, dental and pediatric areas, inpatient rooms, PACU, laboratories, on-call rooms, and other designated spaces.
• Sweeps, dust mops, wet mops, and vacuums floors and mats according to established procedures.
• Dusts, washes, sanitizes, and disinfects surfaces, furniture, fixtures, and equipment, including walls, doors, partitions, mirrors, sinks, toilets, showers, and other high-touch areas.
• Cleans and polishes stainless steel, brass, mirrors, and other surfaces as needed.
• Strips, cleans, and remakes beds and stretchers following patient discharge or transfer in accordance with departmental procedures.
• Collects, handles, and transports waste and soiled linen, including contaminated, pathological, and chemotherapy waste, in accordance with safety and infection-control procedures.
• Removes and replaces full sharps containers according to established procedures.
• Empties and transports recycling and processes materials containing protected information in accordance with HIPAA requirements.
• Moves and replaces furniture and equipment as necessary to complete cleaning assignments.
• Selects and transports required cleaning materials, supplies, and equipment; cleans equipment after use and returns unused supplies to designated areas.
• Uses step stools or ladders as needed to clean hard-to-reach areas and to remove and replace curtains, draperies, and shades.
• Identifies and reports facility repair or maintenance needs to the appropriate supervisor or designated staff member.
• Participates in disaster response drills as required.
• Occasionally assists with training new employees in assigned tasks and departmental procedures.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
