Available in October, flexible start date for the right candidate

Salary from £10,500 per session per annum, depending on experience, plus indemnity.

Main duties of the job

Our practice ethos is to combine high standards of clinical care and training, in a supportive environment designed to encourage you to thrive and develop any interests or ambitions. We have daily informal meetings to catch up with each other and offer a named mentor GP partner to support newly qualified colleagues.

Excellent community support includes acute home visiting service and a dedicated care home team, so we genuinely have low home visit rates.

We are a GMS contract training practice in North Manchester. The practice population is a diverse list of around 11,000 patients. Our team includes 3 partner GPs, 5 salaried GPs, excellent experienced nurses, HCA, a focused care worker, practice pharmacist and dedicated prescription team, and a stable, accomplished administrative team lead by skillful managers. We highly value training & teaching and have medical students, GPSTs and Foundation Drs in practice.

6 Session Salaried GP at Valentine Medical Centre

Job purpose

To provide safe, effective and patient-centred general medical services to the practice population, working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary primary-care team.

The postholder will contribute to clinical care, appropriate administration, clinical governance, education and practice development within an agreed job plan and contracted hours.

Clinical duties

Conduct face-to-face, telephone and online consultations. Assess, diagnose and manage patients presenting with acute and long-term conditions. Provide appropriate preventive care, health promotion and screening. Prescribe safely and appropriately within professional competence. Make referrals and seek specialist advice where clinically appropriate. Provide appropriate follow-up, continuity and safety-netting. Participate in duty-doctor or on-call work as per the rota. Undertake home visits when needed. Work collaboratively with nurses, pharmacists, healthcare assistants, administrative staff and other members of the wider team.Administrative and clinical support workComplete clinical records accurately and promptly. Review and action investigations, correspondence, results and incoming clinical tasks arising from consultations. Complete referrals, reports and other necessary clinical documentation. Participate in significant-event reviews, complaints responses and clinical governance activity, with appropriate paid time provided.Team contributionAttend practice, clinical and multidisciplinary meetings. Contribute to service development, audit, quality improvement and implementation of local policies. Support a respectful, inclusive and non-hierarchical working environment. Participate in practice education, mentoring or supervision where agreed and appropriately resourced. Maintain effective communication with colleagues and external healthcare professionals.Professional responsibilitiesMaintain full GMC registration and inclusion on the appropriate performers list. Practice in accordance with GMC guidance, includingGood Medical Practice. Maintain appropriate professional indemnity arrangements. Keep up to date with mandatory training and continuing professional development. Recognise and act on safeguarding concerns. Maintain confidentiality and comply with information-governance requirements. Participate in appraisal and revalidation processes. Work within professional competence and seek advice when required.Person specificationRegistered medical practitioner with a licence to practice. Included, or eligible for inclusion, on the relevant performers list. MRCGP. Experience working in UK general practice. Ability to manage a broad range of presentations safely. Effective communication and consultation skills. Commitment to teamwork, continuity and high-quality patient care. Understanding of safeguarding, clinical governance and information governance. Ability to work within an agreed job plan and contracted hours.Terms and benefitsSix sessions per week (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday), with the working pattern agreed in advance. Salary paid pro rata to the full-time equivalent. NHS pension membership, subject to eligibility and scheme rules. Annual leave and sick leave in accordance with the contract. Qualifications Essential

MRCGP with CCT and GMC licence to practice with no restrictions.
