ERM is seeking an experienced Senior Tax Manager – North America to lead tax operations across the United States and Canada while contributing to high-profile transformation initiatives, including ERP modernization, legal entity rationalization, automation, and responsible AI adoption. As the principal day-to-day tax lead for North America, you will ensure compliance, strengthen controls, manage risk, and deliver practical tax solutions that support commercial objectives. Your expertise will help guide major transformation programs, improve tax processes through technology and automation, and ensure tax considerations are embedded into key business decisions across the region. What Your Impact Is: In this role, you will:

• Lead North America's corporate tax compliance and tax accounting activities across the U.S. and Canada.

• Serve as a trusted advisor to Finance, Legal, Commercial, and operational leadership teams.

• Drive tax governance, risk management, and process improvements across the region.

• Shape the tax workstream for major strategic initiatives, including ERP implementation and legal entity simplification programs.

• Develop and mentor an Indirect Tax Analyst while fostering a high-performance, service-oriented culture.

• Advance automation, analytics, and responsible AI solutions that improve efficiency and strengthen tax controls.

• Partner closely with Global Tax Leadership, gaining exposure to enterprise-wide tax strategy and transformation initiatives.

What You'll Bring: Required

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field.

• 8+ years of progressive tax experience gained within public accounting, a multinational organization, or a combination of both.

• Strong, hands-on expertise in U.S. federal, state, and local corporate taxation.

• Deep knowledge of corporate tax compliance, tax accounting, and ASC 740 reporting requirements.

• Working knowledge of IFRS tax reporting.

• Experience with U.S. indirect taxes, including sales and use tax, property tax, gross receipts taxes, transaction-based taxes, and business licensing requirements.

• Demonstrated experience leading workstreams, reviewing deliverables, and developing team members.

• Experience managing external tax advisors and interacting with tax authorities.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.

• Ability to balance multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.

Preferred

• CPA, MST, or equivalent professional qualification.

• Exposure to Canadian corporate tax and indirect tax matters.

• Experience within a multinational, project-based professional services environment.

• Background supporting mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, and post-acquisition integration.

• Knowledge of cross-border tax matters, contract review, and legal entity rationalization initiatives.

• Experience supporting ERP implementations, finance transformation, or process redesign programs.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365, SAP, Oracle, or other major ERP platforms.

• Advanced Excel capabilities and experience with tax technology, automation, reporting, or workflow tools.

• Interest in emerging technologies, AI, and digital transformation within finance and tax functions.

Key Responsibilities: Corporate Tax Compliance & Tax Accounting

• Lead U.S. federal, state, and local corporate income tax compliance activities.

• Oversee Canadian corporate tax compliance delivered through external providers.

• Prepare and review income tax provisions under ASC 740 and IFRS.

• Manage quarterly tax account reconciliations, deferred taxes, estimates, and return-to-provision analyses.

• Develop annual tax budgets and cash tax forecasts.

• Manage information reporting obligations, including FBAR filings where required.

• Resolve notices, audits, and inquiries with tax authorities across North America.

Indirect Tax Leadership & Team Management

• Oversee North American indirect tax compliance, including sales and use tax, gross receipts tax, property tax, transaction taxes, and business licenses.

• Lead, mentor, and develop the Indirect Tax Analyst.

• Review filings, reconciliations, journal entries, audit schedules, and supporting documentation.

• Provide technical oversight for taxability determinations, audit strategies, and filing positions.

• Manage responses to tax audits, notices, and information requests.

• Support Canadian GST/HST matters in collaboration with external advisors.

Business Partnering & Cross-Border Advisory

• Review contracts, service agreements, proposals, and statements of work to identify tax implications and risks.

• Advise stakeholders on tax-efficient structures, pricing, invoicing, and cost recovery considerations.

• Assess cross-border matters involving payroll taxes, withholding taxes, permanent establishment risks, and treaty implications.

• Serve as a trusted advisor to Finance, Legal, Commercial, and operational teams.

Strategic Projects & Transformation

• Support acquisitions, divestitures, integrations, and corporate restructuring activities.

• Provide tax leadership for North American components of the legal entity rationalization program.

• Contribute tax expertise to ERP replacement initiatives, including requirements gathering, testing, controls, and implementation.

• Collaborate with Finance Transformation, Technology, and Global Tax teams to embed tax requirements into future-state processes.

Global Collaboration & External Advisor Management

• Manage relationships with external tax advisors, ensuring high-quality deliverables and cost-effective support.

• Partner with Global Tax Leadership on transfer pricing compliance and broader international tax initiatives.

• Align regional tax priorities with global governance, risk, and transformation objectives.

• Communicate complex tax concepts clearly to both tax and non-tax stakeholders.

Governance, Technology & Continuous Improvement

• Strengthen tax governance frameworks, controls, and documentation standards.

• Develop policies, process maps, decision trees, and compliance calendars.

• Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and automate recurring tax processes.

• Monitor changes in U.S. and Canadian tax legislation and assess business impact.

• Champion the responsible use of technology, analytics, automation, and AI within tax operations.
