Job summary
This post forms part of Health Protection Division which aims to provide public health protection services to the population of Wales. These services include, but are not restricted to, Surveillance and Vaccine Programmes, Sexual Health, Prisons, Substance Misuse, Environmental Public Health and Health Protection Team, amongst others.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will support the effective operational delivery of an All-Wales Health Protection service, primarily working with the Communicable Disease Surveillance Centre and Vaccine Preventable Disease Programme. The role involves ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of systems and services, maintaining efficient processes, and supporting programme delivery.
Responsibilities include supporting colleagues, line managing staff, and leading projects to ensure systems and processes align with governance requirements. The post holder will contribute to developing and implementing new ways of working, applying continuous improvement principles to enhance efficiency and service quality.
This is a varied and fast-paced role within a period of organisational change, requiring the ability to support staff through transition while maintaining safe and effective delivery of essential services.
The successful candidate will have experience in operational management, team leadership, performance management, and project delivery. Strong leadership, organisational, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with a proven ability to respond effectively to changing priorities and unexpected demands.
The role may require travel across Wales and the UK.
