About this role

Job summary

We are looking for a dental receptionist to join our team on a fixed-term (one year), full-time basis to be part of a wider dental team providing reception, administrative & clerical support to the dental service using computerised systems. This will include assisting with the decontamination of instruments, as required.

Main duties of the job

Welcome and support patients and carers sensitively; provide clear information and manage expectations. Explain NHS charges clearly and appropriately; provide up-to-date leaflets and signposting information. Work collaboratively with clinicians, senior leaders and colleagues to keep clinics running smoothly.Register patients and maintain accurate records on the practice system (demographics, consents, medical history forms), following Data Protection and confidentiality requirements. Optimise the appointment book: protect urgent slots, backfill cancellations, and monitor waiting times using the digital systems. Process payments (cash/card), issue receipts, reconcile takings, and support banking in line with finance procedures.

Qualifications Essential

Relevant work experience and/or education; relevant work experience may include customer-facing service Relevant educational experiences should include being education to level 3 and/or a professionally accredited customer service qualification
