Job summary
Billericay Medical Practice are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Practice Nurse to join our friendly team of 4 GP Partners, 5 Salaried GPs, 2 Practice Nurses, 1 HCA and a large administrative team. We are looking for someone to work three days each week.
Working from purpose-built premises, we are an established training practice rated Good with CQC, with the use of SystmOne computer system looking after over 12,000 patients in Billericay.
Main duties of the job
Practice independently in accordance with the NMC code of conduct, with reference to practice guidelines, referring to GPs as appropriate Continuation of personal and professional development Provide health screenings (within agreed protocols) with referral to general practitioners as necessary Provide Assessment, Screening Treatment Services and Health Education Advice Travel vaccinations Routine immunisations Cervical smears Family Planning advice Diabetes, Asthma and COPD management Support practice to achieve QOF Request appropriate pathology tests to support patient care Provide nursing treatments to patients in participation with general practitioners or to agreed protocols Provide general and specific health screenings to the practice patients (within agreed protocols) with referral to general practitioners as necessary Advise patients on general health care with referral to GPs as necessary In participation with the team members ensure the maintenance of equipment and stock levels relating to patient care, alongside administrative and professional responsibilities of the team Accurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with patient health care and registration with the practice Effective liaison with other agencies concerned with patient care and other disciplines within the practice, with appropriate regard to confidentiality

Job description Job responsibilities
The candidate will work as part of a team providing immunisation, wound care, screening and health education to patients registered with the practice.The candidate will use their experience, knowledge, skills and qualifications to support effective management of patients with COPD, asthma, diabetes, tissue viability and other chronic long-term conditions.
You will have the following skills and qualifications:
A nursing degree and at least 2 years post qualification experience in a General Practice setting Prescribing qualification would be preferred Current NMC registration with an active PIN Fundamentals of Practice Nursing course (General Practice Nurse Foundation Programme) or equivalent experience or qualifications. Evidence of clinical skills and experience in treatment room consultation, ECG recording, screening, management of long-term conditions, cervical cytology sampling, vaccinations and immunisations, Family Planning Advice, dressing, wound care, suture removal and recording spirometry. Compassionate, empathetic approach and demonstrable kindness in all aspects of your work as well as valuing the dignity of our patients, relatives, carers and colleagues. Knowledge and application of supporting long-term conditions. Insight and understanding of current issues in nursing and NHS.
