Job summary
Medinet are seeking an enthusiastic and highly skilled Consultant Neurologist for weekend sessions taking place on Saturdays and Sundays from 7:00am to 6:00pm.This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-quality neurological care to patients across a diverse population while contributing to service development, teaching, research, and innovation.
As a Consultant Neurologist, you will provide expert assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients with a wide range of neurological conditions. You will work closely with colleagues across specialties to deliver exceptional patient-centred care and help shape the future of neurology services.
Main duties of the job
Main duties include:
Leading specialist neurology outpatient clinics. Provide inpatient neurology consultations and expert advice to clinical colleagues. Diagnose and manage a broad spectrum of neurological disorders, including epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, movement disorders, neuromuscular diseases, headaches, and other complex neurological conditions. Participate in consultant on-call and specialty rotas as required. Contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings and integrated patient care pathways. Support service improvement initiatives and clinical governance activities. Participate in teaching, training, and supervision of junior doctors and medical students. Contribute to research, innovation, and quality improvement programmes.

Job description Job responsibilities
In this role, you will provide specialist neurology services to support the reduction of waiting lists and improve patient access to neurological care. Working within an established NHS Trust, you will deliver high-quality, patient-centred services while maintaining the highest clinical standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesConduct comprehensive neurological assessments for new and follow-up patients.Diagnose and manage a wide range of neurological conditions, including headaches, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, peripheral neuropathies, movement disorders, and neuromuscular conditions.Deliver efficient outpatient clinics aligned with agreed activity targets and service requirements.Review referrals and determine appropriate investigation and treatment pathways.Develop and implement evidence-based management plans tailored to individual patient needs.Request and interpret relevant diagnostic investigations, including MRI, CT imaging, EEG, EMG, nerve conduction studies, and laboratory tests.Produce timely, accurate clinic letters and clinical documentation following each patient consultation.Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including specialist nurses, therapists, neurophysiologists, radiologists, and primary care clinicians.Provide specialist advice and support to referring healthcare professionals regarding neurological patient management.Identify patients requiring urgent intervention and ensure appropriate escalation and referral pathways are followed.Maintain compliance with GMC standards, NHS policies, clinical governance frameworks, and information governance requirements.Participate in clinical audit, quality assurance, and service improvement initiatives where required.Ensure all clinical activity meets agreed productivity, quality, and patient experience standards.Contribute to the effective reduction of neurology waiting lists and achievement of service delivery objectives.Promote a culture of patient safety, professionalism, equality, diversity, and inclusion throughout service delivery.
Person Specification
Experience Essential
Full GMC registration with a licence to practise. Substantive post in the NHS CCT in Neurology (or equivalent). Excellent clinical expertise in the diagnosis and management of neurological disorders. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Commitment to high-quality, patient-focused care. Experience working effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
