Job summary
The main purpose of this post is to provide comprehensive training and developexpertise in all areas of complex inflammatory bowel disease. This post is bestsuited to a candidate aspiring to a sub-speciality career in IBD.
The postholder will be joining one of the largest IBD units in the UK alongside a diverse team of specialists, including dietitians, clinical nurse specialists, GIsurgeons, and mental health professionals, to provide cutting edge, evidencebased, patient-centred care to over 6500 patients.
This unique opportunity will provide training in complex IBD including perianal
Crohn's, treatment refractory disease, pregnancy, adolescent (13+), peri-operativemanagement and IBD endoscopy including surveillance, pouch assessment andileoscopy.
The postholder will contribute to high-quality clinical research and the developmentof guidelines that change care across London.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is expected to have broad experience of general gastroenterology disorders including independent gastroscopy and ideally diagnostic colonic. The applicant should demonstrate an clear interest in IBD. The post holder will deliver both specialist IBD and general gastroenterology clinics, relevant diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures The postholder will be expected to attend the weekly multidisciplinary team meetings, departmental clinical governance meetings, journal club and teaching. The post holder will also be expected to participate in the audit.
The main duties of this post include:
Develop expertise inflammatory bowel disease
Join and contribute to complex case MDT
Provide general gastroenterology clinical service
Participate in audit, clinical governance, service improvement and research
Operate within the clinical governance and audit framework within the division
Option to join out of hours endoscopy on-call rota

Person Specification
Knowledge and Qualifications Essential
Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practise Part II MRCP or equivalent GCP training by time of appointment
Experience Essential
Training in Gastroenterology Clinical audit experience Experience of and interest in teaching at undergraduate and post graduate levels
Desirable
Experience in management of complex IBD Experience of clinical trials &/or research
Skills and Abilities Essential
Independent in upper GI endoscopy Ability to work with MDT Clinical Audit experience Commitment to delivering high quality clinical research
Desirable
Independent in colonoscopy Previous experience with EPIC EHR
