As a Staff Nurse within our Chemotherapy Day Unit, you will support patients throughout their cancer treatment journey, delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centred care. You will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care, while ensuring the safe administration of systemic anti-cancer therapies in line with established protocols and competency requirements.
Working closely with the multidisciplinary team, you will undertake pre-treatment assessments, monitor patients during treatment, manage treatment-related side effects, and provide education, support and reassurance to patients and their families.

Main duties of the job
As a Staff Nurse within the Chemotherapy Day Unit at The Christie Private Care, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centred care to individuals undergoing systemic anti-cancer treatment (SACT). You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate care, ensuring patients receive safe and effective treatment in line with clinical protocols and best practice standards.
Key duties include the safe administration of chemotherapy and other systemic anti-cancer therapies, undertaking pre-treatment assessments, monitoring patients throughout treatment, and recognising and escalating any concerns or adverse reactions appropriately. You will support the management of treatment-related side effects and contribute to maintaining a safe and positive patient experience.
The role also involves providing education, guidance and emotional support to patients and their families, helping them to understand their treatment and care plan. Working collaboratively with consultants, pharmacists and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to the delivery of outstanding oncology services and continuity of care.
You will maintain accurate clinical documentation, adhere to governance, infection prevention and medication management standards, and actively participate in service improvement initiatives. The post holder will be expected to demonstrate professionalism, compassion and clinical excellence while supporting the unit's commitment to delivering exceptional cancer care

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Registered Nurse with SACT competency and chemotherapy administration experience to join our Chemotherapy Day Unit at The Christie Private Care.
As a Staff Nurse, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care to patients undergoing systemic anti-cancer treatment (SACT). Working as part of a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care while ensuring the safe administration of chemotherapy and other anti-cancer therapies.
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent clinical skills, strong communication abilities and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient experiences throughout the cancer treatment journey.

Experience Essential
Current NMC registration as a Registered Nurse. Experience working within Oncology, Haematology or a Chemotherapy Day Unit setting. Current SACT competency and experience administering chemotherapy treatments independently. Knowledge of oncology treatments, toxicity management and patient assessment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A compassionate, patient-centred approach to care. A commitment to delivering clinical excellence and continuously developing your practice.
Qualifications Essential
Registered Nurse (Adult) with current NMC registration. Demonstrable experience working within an oncology, haematology, chemotherapy or cancer services setting. SACT (Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy) competency with experience administering chemotherapy treatments. Ability to undertake comprehensive patient assessments and identify clinical concerns requiring escalation. Experience monitoring patients during treatment and managing treatment-related side effects and adverse reactions. Sound knowledge of oncology nursing principles, medicines management and patient safety standards. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with patients, families and multidisciplinary teams. Ability to provide education, support and guidance to patients throughout their treatment journey. Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise workload effectively. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Competent in maintaining accurate clinical records and documentation. Commitment to delivering high-quality, compassionate and patient-centred care. Understanding of clinical governance, risk management, infection prevention and safeguarding principles. Commitment to continuing professional development and maintaining clinical competence.
Desirable
Recognised chemotherapy or Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) qualification. Post-registration qualification in Oncology, Cancer Care, Haematology or a related speciality. Previous experience working within a Chemotherapy Day Unit or Ambulatory Care setting. Experience caring for patients receiving a range of systemic anti-cancer therapies, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy and targeted treatments. Experience working within a specialist oncology or haematology service. Understanding of clinical trials and research within cancer services. Experience providing patient education and health promotion within an oncology environment. Practice Assessor, Practice Supervisor or mentorship qualification. Experience participating in clinical audit, quality improvement or service development initiatives. Experience supporting the learning and development of junior staff, students or new team members. Knowledge of electronic patient record systems and digital healthcare technologies. Experience working within a private healthcare setting or a partnership model between NHS and independent healthcare providers. Evidence of ongoing professional development relevant to oncology nursing. Advanced communication skills, including supporting patients and families through complex treatment pathways.
