About this role
Huawei Canada has an immediate permanent opening for an Engineer. About the team: Welcome to the Advanced Wireless Technology Wireless Lab, an epitome of innovation located in Ottawa, Canada. Here, amid the dynamic panorama of technological progress, our team consists mainly of seasoned graduate computer engineers and computer scientists. With diverse experiences ranging from fresh perspectives to decades-long industry immersion, we are united by our fervour for pioneering wireless solutions. About the job: Design antennas and RF circuits. Model, simulate, and design compact antennas (MIMO, array structures) and RF front-ends for sub-6 GHz and mmWave applications. Apply additive manufacturing. Use techniques such as Aerosol Jet, LDS, inkjet, DIW, and polymer/metal PBF to create lightweight, conformal RF geometries that conventional processes can't achieve. Automate the design flow. Build scripts and toolboxes to drive EM simulation workflows, optimize antenna geometries, and process large spatial-layout datasets. Prototype and characterize on-site. Fabricate working prototypes on in-house 3D printing equipment and validate them with VNAs and anechoic-chamber measurements. Design for manufacturing (DFM). Mature printed RF concepts toward high-volume production, assessing material reliability, thermal performance, and yield. Collaborate across disciplines. Partner with mechanical and industrial design teams to fit antennas into tight consumer product enclosures. The total target annual compensation for this position ranges from $106,000 to $156,000 depending on education, experience, and demonstrated expertise.
