About this role
Primary Responsibilities:
A harvesting technician provides support and assistance to the harvesting forester. In addition, this position is responsible for the day-to-day management of logging contractors to ensure timber harvests are conducted safely and meet the specifications outlined in the harvest plan, and other duties as required.
• GIS collection, reporting, and maintenance of management data, logging supervision & timber cruising
• FSC & SFI compliance, auditing, and supervising various forestry activities for contract compliance
• Assistance in the acquisition of time timber and vendor acquisitions
• Attend police jury meetings
Job Experience:
Attention to detail, creative thinking, and communication skills are vital for success in this role.
Required:
• High school diploma and forestry training at a vocational college or equivalent experience
• Outstanding safety record in all aspects of previous employment
Preferred:
• Experience in logging supervision & timber cruising
• The ability to work independently and as a team player
