Position Summary
The In-Person Tutor will provide direct, high-impact academic tutoring to students in grades 5–8 at assigned Pennsauken Public Schools sites during the school day. Tutors will deliver small-group instruction in either ELA or Math (not both) to help close significant academic gaps and accelerate student achievement toward grade-level proficiency.
Site Assignment
Tutors will report on-site at one or both of the following locations to deliver services during the school day. Specific days and times have not yet been finalized.
• Pennsauken Intermediate School (5th Grade Students)
• Pennsauken Phifer Middle School (6th–8th Grade Students)
Sessions may take one of two formats:
• Push-in: Tutoring is delivered within the classroom (e.g., in a corner of the room) during the student's regular class period.
• Pull-out: The tutor and students relocate to a private location within the building for focused, small-group instruction.
Grade Levels, Ratios & Subject
• Grade levels served: 5th through 8th grade.
• Subject focus: Each student receives tutoring in either ELA or Math, not both.
• Tutor-to-student ratio: 1 tutor to up to 3 students, not to exceed 4 students per group.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver small-group, high-impact tutoring sessions in ELA or Math to assigned students during the school day.
• Adapt instruction to meet the needs of students performing two or more grade levels below expectations.
• Track and monitor student progress toward grade-level proficiency and the program's 60% growth goal.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and school staff to align tutoring content with classroom instruction.
• Maintain a supportive, engaging learning environment for both push-in and pull-out sessions.
• Communicate regularly with program coordinators regarding student progress, attendance, and any concerns.
• Maintain accurate records of session attendance and student performance data.
Qualifications
• Experience working with students in grades 5–8, preferably in ELA or Math instruction.
• Ability to work effectively with students performing below grade level, including those with IEPs or who are multilingual learners.
• Strong classroom management and small-group instructional skills.
• Comfortable working in both push-in and pull-out instructional settings.
• Reliable, in-person availability during the school day at assigned Pennsauken sites.
• Background check and any district-required clearances as applicable.
$25 per hour
