About this role
The Manager of Operations Leads MVEC’s Technical Services, Construction, Distribution Logistics, and System Operations functions by driving strategic initiatives, fostering a strong safety culture, overseeing operational planning, budgeting, and resource management, and leading continuous improvement efforts, while building collaborative relationships with Team Members, union representatives, members, contractors, developers, and public agencies to ensure reliable service, operational excellence, and alignment with the cooperative’s mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities.
The Supervisory Team is empowered to successfully lead MVEC’s day-to-day operations. The Supervisory Team spends most time on operational tasks, are subject matter experts for their areas and suggest “what’s” and develop and implement “how’s”. Leading by example, the Supervisory Team’s focus is to:
• Empower and retain successful Team Members ensuring cooperative objectives are met. They effectively establish priorities, develop processes, and manage resources.
• Help review and maintain accurate cooperative policies and procedures to follow.
• Be responsible to proactively resolve issues and implement programs to further MVEC’s strategy.
• Be responsible for recruit, onboard, train, coach, evaluate performance and provide disciplinary action of direct reports, including decisions related to reward, transfer, suspension, promotion, or any commendation-related action.
• Work cooperatively across departments, communicate effectively and be responsive.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Manages day-to-day activities across Construction, Technical Services, System Operations, Fleet, Right-of-Way, Utility Locating, Warehouse, and Facilities functions. Oversees operational priorities, construction work execution, outage response readiness, workforce performance, contractor coordination, resource utilization, and service delivery to ensure efficient operations, system reliability, and exceptional member service.
• Provides strategic oversight of Construction, Technical Services, System Operations, Fleet and Distribution Logistics to support the cooperative's long-term objectives. Directs construction work planning, system reliability initiatives, grid modernization efforts, technology integration, asset management strategies, and operational improvements. Ensures resources, infrastructure, and programs are aligned with organizational goals and future system needs.
• Promotes and supports a culture of safety by ensuring compliance with cooperative policies, operating procedures, regulatory requirements, and industry standards. Oversees safety initiatives, construction activities, system operations, fleet operations, and technical services programs to protect employees, members, contractors, and cooperative assets while maintaining regulatory compliance.
• Other duties assigned by the Supervisor.
Required Qualifications:
• 10 years of construction line work experience
• Valid MN CDL driver’s license and good driving record
• High School Graduate
• Certified D.O.T. Drug Awareness (or able to obtain within 6 months)
• Knowledge in all aspects of power line construction and maintenance.
• Strong emphasis on electrical technology
• Above average computer skills
• Above average mechanical skills
• Excellent people skills
Preferred Qualifications:
• 5 years of Foreman or Lead Foreman experience
• 2-year degree in Electrical Construction and Maintenance or equivalent degree
Schedule/Location:
On-site at our office location in Jordan, MN.
Pay and Benefits:
Pay Range: $162,146 - $178,361/annually
Pay will be determined based on qualifications, experience, and education.
