About this role

About Hedrick Brothers Construction

Founded in 1979, Hedrick Brothers Construction is a family-owned commercial general contractor headquartered in West Palm Beach, Florida, with offices in Winter Park, Stuart, and Miami. For more than 45 years we have built across Florida in hospitality, multi-family, industrial, healthcare, and the public sector, with project values ranging from $5M to $160M. Our work is guided by our GRIT values — Growth, Resourcefulness, Integrity, and Team — and a culture built on doing right by our people, our trade partners, and our clients.

The Opportunity

The VDC Coordinator develops and maintains models and supports VDC procedures across HBC projects, serving as a liaison between departments, clients, and architects. You're hands-on in the model — building, coordinating, and documenting — while learning to manage the full VDC process.

This role blends modeling, quantity takeoff, scheduling support, and trade coordination on active projects.

What You'll Do

Modeling & BIM

• Create and maintain schematic and detailed models — structure, interior/exterior architectural elements, and MEP systems as applicable.

• Serve as Model Administrator for assigned projects, manage model change control, and keep the BIM revision log.

• Identify conflicts and incomplete or ambiguous design information and develop models to illustrate questions and solutions.

• Create new library components, update as-built and revised models, and distribute models showing changes and RFI answers.

• Coordinate with BIM service providers and subcontractors and assist with subcontracting assignments to outside vendors.

Quantities & Scheduling Support

• Derive material quantities, perform quantity take-offs, and produce quantity reports and surveys.

• Verify original estimate quantities for cost reports and report quantities in place.

• Develop the design-phase schedule and the modeling and coordination schedule.

• Prepare 4D simulations and integrate long-lead items as required.

Trade & Field Coordination

• Define scopes of work, evaluate field problems, and issue RFIs; maintain control logs and review submittal/expediting logs for VDC models.

• Attend and/or manage model coordination and VDC meetings, write minutes, and record coordination sign-offs.

• Process shop/fabrication-level models for approval and coordinate with internal and subcontractor detailers.

• Evaluate construction installations against the 3D coordinated models and prepare shop-drawing-level models for self-performed work.

• Produce dimensioned drawings from the model and support job layout driven by 3D model data.

What You Bring to the Role

Experience & Education

• Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture, or equivalent completion of a Construction Management Certificate Program required.

• Minimum 3 years of related project engineering experience and proficient plan reading.

Certifications & Licenses

• Ability to communicate effectively in English, written and verbal.

Skills & Attributes

• Proficient with AutoCAD, Navisworks, Revit, AutoCad, and Microsoft Office

• Detail-oriented modeler comfortable coordinating across trades and departments.
